Is this the 2012 Dodge Magnum aka Dodge's replacement for the Dodge Durango? Spy photos obtained by blogger Asian Martin show the vehicle's design, and a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee next to it, and we're inclined to think so.
The Magnum is expected to get Chrysler's Pentastar 3.6L V6, and the photos clearly show design cues taken from the Ram pickup. The 5.7L Hemi V8 is a logical addition as well. Based on spy photos and some leaked patent drawings, this is likely your first look at the new truck.
As a part of our ongoing improvements to the site, we will be upgrading the software the forum runs on. We will be performing the upgrade starting early in the morning (EST) on July 19th, 2010 and it should be finished around 12 hours after we start. During this time, the site will be inaccessible. There will be a maintenance message up for any updates should they be necessary. The new version of the site brings in added security and many bug fixes to the forum with no visual changes. Thanks for your patience during the downtime.
The MPV segment is growing quickly and it appears as though Dodge it getting set to join in. In Fiat's larger plan for the Chrysler Group, company CEO Sergio Marchionne included a seven-seat multi-purpose-vehicle (MPV) destined for U.S. showrooms in 2012.
Based on the upcoming Fiat compact car platform this new model would compete against the Mazda5, Kia Rondo and the upcoming Ford Grand C-Max. (Oddly, GM has decided not to introduce its Orlando MPV into the U.S. market).
The team at Motor Trend makes the case that the new MPV would best be branded as a Dodge, targeting young families and more focused on the fun youth market. This makes sense as Mazda markets the 5 to exactly those same customers.
Power would likely come from the new 2.4-liter 4-cylinder World Engine, which gets Fiat's variable valve Multiair technology to produce 190-hp and 175 ft-lbs of torque.
