Can you get away with displaying it in your front window?

In Ohio the plate is supposed to be mounted in the front bumper area. I got a ticket in Rocky River for no license plate a few years back. I was driving a JDM Nissan. They never came with a place for a front plate or even a place to mount a bracket to display a front plate. I asked the officer if there was a way around it. I was told absolutely not. It's a state law. He did however tell me that the front marker didn't necessarily have to be a license plate. There just has to be a plate of some kind. Like a plate with an airbrush design or a manufacturer logo or something. A novelty plate. Something about its purpose is more for visual identification purposes or something. I guess that would mean the more distinctive as long as it is a plate the more it makes you stand out if they happen to be looking for your car or whatever. I don't know. Not sure if it's true, but that is what he told me.
