Well, it's official. I will be back in Nebraska in November for three years as a Navy recruiter. Will be working out of Millard Recruiting Station. Looking to get a houe somewhat close to there, but don't really want to live in the city. I grew up in the country. Will definitly be renting for probably a year to begin with, then looking for a house to buy. Been looking online a little, but hard to find any rental properties online.

Yes it i something I really wanted, and there was about 3 month span where I didn't know if it was going to happen or not. Had to wait on my command to approve me, but my Chief wasn't recomending me for it. Luckily, the rest of my chain of command saw past his personal opinion of me and decided to approve me for it.

I'm an E-6 right now. Hoping the recruiting will be a big boost for me to make E-7. Military has treated me good. Probably the best decision I have ever made in my life, aside from getting married(had to throw that in there)

Congrats man! Luckily Millard is not too far away from the edge of town. You could get a house in Venice (West on 92 on the Platte)..? I moved into town (Lincoln) 18 months ago and don't like it much (too many loud & nosey neighbors!)… my wife loves it though.

Renting should be cheap right now. No one can sell their house because there are 6,000 of them for sale. Everyone including myself decided to build a new house in the last 4 years so the market is flooded with existing homes. People are renting out their old houses just to keep from making double payments so be choosy. There are plenty to choose from. There is one for rent just up the street from myself because no one bought it. It's less 2 years old with a great finished basement. 192nd & F. Let me know if you are interested and I can get you the phone#. I would buy if it were me. The prices can't go much lower than they are are it's definitely a buyer's market, especially in November.

Welcome back!

I guess you haven't heard, they are moving the navy in with the army, they are getting stretched too much, so when you get back, you are in the Army. :D ;)

All joking aside, the Navy is actually sending "volunteers" to Iraq/Afghanistan to help suppliment the Army. Been doing it for about a year now. They call it individual augmentation.
