Is it time for the Dodge Hornet?

There has been much speculation over the past year about the status of the Dodge Hornet (http://www.hornet-forum.com), however, one thing is clear: Now is the time. As gas prices rise and the trend seems to move towards smaller vehicles the need only becomes greater. The Dodge Hornet is an aggressive looking concept car that is rumored to powered by a Nissan sourced 4 cylinder engine. As SRT fans, we can only hope that after the first year of production that Dodge will consider releasing a turbocharged version as the Dodge Hornet SRT4 (http://www.hornet-forum.com).

We think production is likely, and we'd like to be able to create some discussions about the vehicle and have created the Dodge Hornet Forum (http://www.hornet-forum.com) for just this purpose. As we all know, Dodge pays close attention to their customer base and to what happens on the forums... so let your voice be heard, express your opinions on the vehicle and help shape its' future.

haha libbs for getting the language filter thrown on, like it matters if it wasnt you it would of been someone else. guess its back to adding extra letters to get around it (yes its that important to curse in writing)

I think if they do that they'll cut sales on either the Caliber or Hornet. Look that the PT/Neon Turbos. The Neon took off while the PT was left in distance. And it didn't get the same aftermarket/mopar parts support. If they do come out with an HSRT-4. Hopefully the Cali wont be the one left in the past.

Plus, the Ion/CoBalt and PT/SRT where all from the same general company but under a different brand (Saturn/Chevy) (Plymouth/Dodge). How are they going to have 2 SRTs under the same brand?

Of course the Charger is the main SRT8 for modders (probably just cause it cares the name) The Magnum is getting axed. And the 300 is more of a bling factor. So with the M being put to rest Dodge will no longer have 2 SRT8's under the same brand. One Chrysler and one Dodge. So if they put out the Hornet SRT, in the long run they'll probably axe the one that isn't producing.

I like it! I'd get an R/T version in a heartbeat, or perhaps even an SRT version if they decided to make one. Imagine a 2.4 Liter in this car as the R/T version! That would be kickass! :D

In all honesty, I doubt they'd use the 2.4 liter in it. I would like to see them use the 1.8 Liter world engine. I think that would be a good engine for the Hornet. Its not a widely used engine (only used in the Caliber SE/SXT). I wonder how well the CVT transmission would work with this vehicle? I'd like to get a manual transmission version myself.

The Jeep SRT8 is my favorite SRT vehicle. If I had the money I'd get one right now.

I was also thinking they could make a Dodge Hornet GLH (Goes like Hell). Similar to the Omni GLH. Perhaps even sell it in the US as the Dodge Omni?
