Finally broke down....

And modded :bigthumb:

Wasn't going to touch it for at least a year and let the aftermarket catch up. I did a custom intake. Didn't like the hefty tag on DCR or AEM (which is almost identical to stock) Soooo, I went down to the local auto parts store since I remembered that my buddy made his own from Spectre parts. Total spend included filter plus extra parts was $120. I'm sure you can get it to about 105 without the extra bends and all. I needed extra so I didn't have to go back. And this is what I came up with.

The zip ties in some where just a temp holding. I made a bracket that firmly hold the intake up from the battery. Also as a backup I'm picking up some terminal boots just in case.

P.S. Sry if the pics are blurry its from a cam phone

Notice the bend in the hood, its right where the highest point of the filter. So you have plenty of clearance.

I might try something like that and set up a turbo to airbox pipe, if I only had the time.

when i looked at the title i thought it meant you finally broken down, as in the car left u stranded or something, but its not a bad looking intake, what kinda filter is that?

good for you, you created you own SRI for a fraction of what everyone else is asking for.

Looks like some of you guys dont realise that i make one too. $198. It has two bends in ot so the filter sits horizontal. It also sits on the OEM mounts.
