I drove by the plant today and they are now shipping the Caliber. I saw them on both semi's and train cars.

Awesome news!!! I hope my local dealer gets an R/T that I can test drive. Soon my caliber will be on one of those trains or semis

Mine said they had 1 and sold it already, but i question the volidity of there statment.

They probably had one coming in and sold it.

I am sure that will be the case with many dealerships. They will eventually have many people looking for Calibers and won't be able to keep up with demand at first.

Another thing that bothers me about dealerships. When the press releases are over, no dealer has the brochures for said vehicle until almost 6 months AFTER its on the lots. Whats up with that? The official brochures should be published and mailed out the same day the press releases (official debut) happens. Thats will give people interested something to look at until the vehicles come in. That promotes sales and interest.

OK I have three dealerships near me. The other day I went to the furthest one away and these people had "no information" about the Caliber. I am like WTF it is going to be on their lot in like 3 weeks.

That same day I went to the second closest on my way back and the only brochure they had was the single panflet that had the picture of the concept on it. I got talking and he said they don't know much about them and told him that an SRT-4 version just debuted at Chicago and he said that I must have been mistaken for the SXT version of it:rolleyes: I was like no, and this salesman, nice guy and all, had no information. I know moew about this car than that guy did. I felt like telling him about the site here, or just even LOG ON THE DODOGE WEBSITE! You think they would be more prepared and both were "Five Star" dealers, well at least the one that is closest to me know something about it, they knew there was an SRT-4 version and told me pretty much the exact date for release on the SE,SXT and R/T models and they are employee owned and not even "Five Star" (not like that means anything in my book)

Sorry for the rant....I feel good now because I know more about this vehicle then they know!:D:);):cool:

I can concur that xordox is correct. I drove that same gray sxt caliber last Friday at the same dealer rond point dodge chrysler et jeep in st hubert quebec

I was extremely surprised and anxious to try this car cause having recently smashed my 2004 sx r\t couple week ago I NEEEEEEEED A NEW CAR ....

This will be my third dodge after a 98 sport neon and the 2004 r\t and guys believe me this is not a NEON (lol)

The cvt is weird at first but will grow on most people you keep on hoping that the tranny will **** at one point but it never happens ...cool . incredible torque on takeoff feels like when you put a put a bit to much gas and a quick clutch release (sort off). and then never lets go

2.0 liter vvt much more silent than the original 150 high output not a bad feel but will definitively wait for 2.4 liter 172 ish

Suspension on sxt surprisingly tight and especially here in Montreal Quebec where the roads are freaking horrible we don’t call them potholes but more man holes!!! Suspension was good and didn’t hit as tight as on my r\t but chassis definitively more rigid then past neons.

Space inside is very good although higher seated then before which is very acceptable. Seat are comfortable, guys around 6.3 or even 6.5 will have good headroom and legroom which might improve with 6 or 8 way power driver seats.


rt awd caliber will be available soon 2-3 weeks from now. They’re currently not for sale - only using them for test drives.

Walked into Village Chrysler and 3 of the 4 people I talked tyo looked at me like I was on something. I wasn't until One of The stock people overheard and mentioned that they was a brochure for it in one of the offices that I got some info.

The dealer is incorrect, the Dodge Caliber SRT-4 (http://www.dodge.com/mktcode/index.html?pid=Forum&adid=Caliber_FI_Auto&actionURL=http://www.dodge.com/caliber/index.html) will have Turbocharged Intercooled 2.4L I4 engine outputting 300hp. unfortunately the dealership product materials have yet to be produced.

Make it after November 2006 and you'll make me a very happy man.

We had only one dealership in the North Texas area that had one, and I have it in my driveway right now. Other dealers aren't getting them until the begining of next month.

A few dealers in west Texas had one, and I saw one Inferno Red one on the road on the way to the dealer yesterday, so they're out there.

Know anything about southeast Texas?

Not as of yet. The dealer I went to said they got one kinda as a surprise. I don't remember if it was mixed in with another shipment or what, but it was the only one. Usually, they get new models as a full carrier, so there's usually five or six.

Southeast Texas should be getting the car sometime at the end of the month into March. They supposedly were availible for dealers to buy last week, so they're going to be delivered soon.
