Need Motor Rebuild

My car has been at the dealer for 2 weeks now. I went to look at it today. The #2 cylinder spun a rod bearing. Its cheaper to just replace the whole bottom end than pay the labor rates to rebuild it/replace crank/head/block. The dealer wants $5,600 to replace the motor. So, I went to 2 different shops this afternoon that I know and asked what my options are since these motors are rare. They'll get back to me tomorrow.

Has anyone had to go through this yet? I was planning on selling the car in the summer and now this. Any suggestions on a cheap solution? I just want it put back together so I can put it up for sale and get my wife her Ford Flex EcoBoost and take back from her my 300 SRT8.

Update 1/07/13:
So I'm picking up the car today in pieces and having it towed to another shop to replace the motor. I owe Dodge $500 for work performed. I've already paid $440 for a rental car for 2 weeks. I'm now borrowing a car from my parents.

The other shop (which I've used several times before), will take out the old engine and drop in a rebuilt engine for about $3,400 out the door. Way better than the dealer. I don't know how long it will take because any parts that need replacing might be on back order. Most of the stuff is.

That's common sense my friend, you honestly took it to dodge for your motor rebuild??

I'm sorry but everyone knows dealerships charge twice the price then other shops.

All they are good for is...... acutally nothing comes to mind? LOL
