Caliber Standard, Navigation and MyGIG Radio & Kicker Information Thread
As there seems to be a few threads going on about this, I figured I would make a thread where all the info/sites that I know of are in one easy to find spot!
The model years are for the Caliber, and the availability of these radios will vary in different Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep vehicles.
2007 - 2008 Dodge Caliber
REC Navigation System (North America Only)
Features:
DVD Navigation disc, dedicated slot
8-way joystick for navigation control
AM/FM Stereo radio
Integrated 6-Disc CD Changer
MP3 disc playback capability
SIRIUS Satellite Radio option
UConnect™ option
This navigation system features a large 5.8-inch full-color display, MP3 player, AM/FM stereo, six-disc CD system and navigation system in one unit. An eight-way joystick allows the user to scroll through the navigation menus and icons quickly and effortlessly.
The system guides the user through the drive route providing voice commands, mile by mile, turn-by-turn until the final destination is reached. Destinations may be entered into the system 10 different ways and the screen may be viewed as a detailed map or enlarged to be viewed turn-by-turn.
With MP3 capability and the option to add various entertainment and communication features, the navigation system is clearly in the forefront of information and entertainment technology. The system effectively calculates the quickest and most accurate route and immediately redirects the driver should he or she veer off path.
The MP3 player is a navigation first, and the radio also features SIRIUS Satellite Radio™ availability. The MP3 feature enables the user to view and play files and folders contained within MP3 discs. Coupled with SIRIUS Satellite Radio, the stream listing, stream category, song title, and artist can be viewed on the system’s display screen.
The navigation system features a single DVD disc which contains mapping, points of interest and business phone numbers across the U.S. (where digitized mapping data and information are available). In addition, route calculations may be made quickly with Alpine’s proprietary software algorithms which provide routing information within 10 seconds. This is crucial when a driver misses a turn and needs an immediate re-route.
The navigation system receives its GPS, or global positioning system signals, from up to eight satellites to display the position and direction of the vehicle. A gyroscope and the vehicle’s speed sensor enable the system to display the present vehicle position even in locations where a GPS signal may not be available. When a destination is entered, the navigation system uses data from the DVD to quickly calculate a route.
To install a REC navigation in a Dodge Caliber that did not come with one you will need a new bezel (2007-2008 Caliber Satin Silver Navigation Bezel - Mopar part# 82210579), gps antenna, and probably a navigation disc.

MyGIG is a revolutionary multimedia infotainment system that integrates radio, navigation, DVD, Bluetooth, USB and satellite radio technologies. The USB port allows uploads of music and photos to the 20 gigabyte hard drive, while the system also will copy files from CDs as they're inserted. Using the Gracenote database, MyGIG will find the artist, track and title for the music.
The auxiliary input jack permits passengers to listen to a portable MP3 player through the vehicle's speakers. MyGIG is a Sirius Satellite Radio player and also includes UConnect® —the hands-free Bluetooth cellular system. Controlling the system is easy, too. The 6.5-inch touch screen allows easy menu navigation, while the Advanced Voice Dialog System recognizes more than 1,000 words for audio, navigation, entertainment and hands-free mobile phone use.
Navigating traffic also becomes easier using MyGIG's real-time traffic information. Separate audio outputs allow passengers to listen to the car speakers while different audio tracks play through the system's wireless headphones. That means the kids can watch their DVD on the optional rear-seat entertainment system while parents listen to the radio in the front.
To install a uconnect gps (MyGIG) radio into a 2007 - 2008 Caliber you will need a low-speed uconnect (myGIG) radio, lockpick adapter, 2009 dash face plate, gps antenna, and a navigation disc
To install a uconnect gps (MyGIG) radio into a 2009 + Caliber you will need a low-speed uconnect (MyGIG) radio, gps antenna and a navigation disc
2007 - 2008 Calibers used different dash face plates/bezels for the standard radios and the Navigation radios.
2009 + Calibers all use the same dash face plate for all the radios.
Useful threads here dealing with the radios in the Dodge Caliber:
The remote sound system controls are located on the rear surface of the steering wheel. Reach behind the wheel to access the switches. The right hand control is a rocker type switch with a push-button in the center and controls the volume and mode of the sound system. Pressing the top of the rocker switch will increase the volume and pressing the bottom of the rocker switch will decrease the volume.
Pressing the center button will make the radio switch between the various modes available (AM/FM/TAPE/ CD, Etc.).
The left hand control is a rocker type switch with a push-button in the center. The function of the left hand control is different depending on which mode you are in. The following describes the left hand control operation in each mode.

The button located in the center of the left hand control will tune to the next preset station that you have programmed in the radio preset push-button.
Tape Player
Pressing the top of the switch once will go to the next selection on the cassette. Pressing the bottom of the switch once will go to the beginning of the current selection or to the beginning of the previous selection if it is within the first 5 seconds of the current selection.
If you press the switch up or down twice it plays the second selection, three times, it will play the third, etc.
The button in the center of the left hand switch switches the side of the tape to be played.

The center button on the left side rocker switch has nc function for a single disc CD player. However, when a multiple disc CD player is equipped on the vehicle, the center button will select the next available CD in the player.
ATTENTION: The purpose of this cable is to provide customers who have factory installed UConnect the ability install an RER MYGIG into their vehicle and still be able to use their current factory UConnect setup. Basically, vehicles that have factory UConnect have an external UConnect receiver within their dash. The RER MYGIG has its own built in UConnect receiver. This featured cable will allow both the factory installed UConnect receiver and the RER UConnect receiver to work hand in hand without having to install an additional MYGIG UConnect microphone. ***Dealer programming is required upon successful installation!
