Popping sound in the front suspension

Ok, occasionally I hear a popping sound coming from the front suspension and I'm curious if anyone has experienced something similar. I will admit I haven't looked at it yet (I have time set aside tomorrow night) but any input or suggestions of things to look at it would be appreciate. I've had the LCA bolt recall done already so I'm thinking thats not it. Other than that I have the BWoody traction bars and I'm wondering if the heim joints might have gone mucked up over the winter. Thoughts, suggestions, smart remarks?

Re: Popping sound in the front suspension

Occassionally, I hear a slight popping sound when it rains...I was thinking it was the swaybar shifting in the bushings or something...it only does it when it rains.

Its your LCA (Lower Control Arm) Bolts guys. I dont have time to find the thread and post it up here but you can definitely find it if you search the forums for a couple minutes. I had the same issue and got it taken care of at the dealer.

Exactly I had this done last week hoping it would resolve the issue and it didn't.

Re: Popping sound in the front suspension

Well I haven't found a cause yet but to further refine the symptoms...it only makes the popping sound when backing up and the wheels turned.

greasemonkey is going to tell us why this is wrong, but that usually means cv joint to me.

The backing up issue is odd. Cv Joints will "click" when you turn, has nothing to do with reversing. If its only sounding that way when reversing, id suspect the transmission.

I read where you had the LCA bolts already done, but my symptoms were as you described above and after I had the LCA bolts replaced this was gone...makes me wonder if they either just tried to re-torque your existing bolts instead of replacing them as is stated in the Rapid Response......makes you wonder?

this was also one of my cars symptoms when I had to get the LCA replace and retorqued. And the issue was gone.

Have them check it out again. They may have not torqued it tight enough.
