Thanks so much for taking the time to attend these chats and for bringing to market such great performance machines. I have a 2007 Charger SRT8
In designing the vehicles I understand there are compromises that must be made to meet intended price points and other market influences. Some of these compromises may have sacrificed certain aspects of vehicle performance to gain something else (the safety of induced understeer with smaller front tires for example). If your goal was only to go down the quarter mile as quickly as possible in the SRT8, what would be the one modification you would make to the vehicle (excluding tires)?

I own a 2005 SRT-4 and have only one issue that is not right that doesn't happen all the time. This condition seems to happen mostly on very hot or humid days, but not always. When the engine is started and driven for a short distance as a mile or less, the car will take off from a stop (normal throttle) and start to fall on its face. The more throttle is given the vac/boost gauge heads towards 0 (normal) but the engine gets no fuel and looses speed and then will start to buck and jerk violently. This will go on for a while and then it may come out of it on it's own or I can floorboard the go pedal and it takes off with all power restored. It may do this once or twice after the startup or it will do it several times. It can do it for quite a long time from several stops. It does not seem to make any difference if the engine is cold or hot. It seems like it is getting no fuel at all. It also can start idling rough and slow until the point of dying, but the check engine light has nerver illuminated. I have had it into the dealership, but naturally, it was not exhibiting the condition at that time and nothing was found. Now it is out of warranty. I worked as a tech for the dealership for 31 years, and it has me scratching my head. It seems like an oxygen sensor going nuts, but no fail codes set and I have no scan tool to hook up to it to watch while driving. Any ideas? Have you heard of this before? No tsb has been put out for this condition. I have owned the car since new. No add ons, all stock with the exception of an aftermarket air filter system. 22,000 miles and has done it since new.

Followup question to one I asked a few chats ago.

I'm still having a popping sound come from the front end under heavy load conditions. I've had the LCA bolts replaced, as well as the lower cradle assembly and the noise still persists. At this point the dealer has basically given up because the sound only happens under extreme load conditions which I can't reproduce during street driving.

So some more information that was requested after my last post. The noise mostly happens when you're into the throttle hard, and throw the car hard left to right or right to left and the camber of the driving surface changes. In other words this happens during autocross going through gates when the car crosses over the crown of the runway surface. I've noticed it a few times during heavy braking during the same conditions but never if I lift the throttle right before I crest the crown.

Thoughts? Unfortunately I probably won't make the chat live so if you need to get more information I'll have to get it for the next chat. Unless any of you guys are gonna be at the SRT Driving Experience at MIS, then I could show you.

Refalsh or Not???

SRT Team - I recently installed a Corsa "Cat Back" Exhaust on my 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 along with a cold air in-take. In order to get the full benefit of these upgrades, should I reflash the chip? If so, is there a system you would recommend? If I re-program the chip myself, is there any danger of hurting the engine?

Thanks,

Miamimike

Thanks for taking time to stop by and answer questions guys! I was wondering one thing. Is it common for the upper motor mount on the passenger side to have "lesions or small cracks in it? It doesn't appear to be broken and the cracks don't go all the way through. It's a full bolt on 04 Neon with "Race" Inserts.

In regards to Jeep SRT8: Is the 6.1L oil pump considered to be a high performance unit? Capable for use in a 426 stroker engine?

service tire press. system

I have posed this question 2 different times before and so far have not resolved the problem.
I have a 2006 Grand Cherokee srt8 which the service tire press. tire system warning will not stay off. It has been to the dealer no less than 5 times with no solution other than I will just have to learn to live with it.
I have through time replaced all 4 sensors with a new set of tires, no luck still flashes back to service tire pressure system.
I have also found that the display shows that the rear tires are reversed to the way they really are. what I mean in this is that when the right tire is low the left on the display shows low and the other way around.
It is out of warranty now and they quit trying long before it was.
Thanks for any way to get this fixed as the paint on the step button is now wore off.

First and foremost thank you for taking time out of your day to answer questions for all of us SRT enthusiasts. We all appreciate this opportunity.

I have a Jeep SRT8 and I have an annoying vibration that begins around 65mph and lasts until around 85mph. The vibration was there with the original goodyears. I swapped to Nitto NT05's (275/40 & 315/35) and the vibration was not as noticeable and was only between 70-80mph. The end of June I noticed the inside of the front tires wearing so I had an alignment done (2nd for the jeep), tires swapped on the front rims, and rebalance (3rd time). Now my vibration is the worst it has ever been. Is there a known fix for this and is there a specific way the wheels/tires on the Jeep SRT8 are to be balanced?

Yes I have taken it to 2 local jeep dealers, one now closed, and they did an alignment, rebalanced tires, checked over jeep, etc and sent me packing with a vibrating jeep.

Please help because I want to enjoy driving my jeep again.

I loved the snap-crackle-pop backfires my stock SRT-4 Neon made. My Caliber SRT-4 does not do that. What made the Neon sound like that, and how can I get my Caliber to do it?
