Electronic Throttle Control Indicator Light

I just got my 2007 Caliber SXT in December and I just decided to change my oil myself yesterday. I had considerable trouble getting the oil pan bolt out, and to make a long story short, I stripped the bolt and ended up having to take it to a Jiffy Lube to have them get it out, change oil, and put in a new bolt. Well, about 25 miles later, my ETCI light began to flash and I began to lose power. Any chance these two things are related. I read some of the posts on here about this light and I am now heading out to start my car to see if has reset. I'm still thinking I should take this in to get checked out because I don't want to have that loss-of-power feeling again; I wasn't sure I was gonna make it home! Thanks for any and all input.

This happened to me also. If you shutoff your engine and restart you should be fine. It it stays on after that well then I'd take it to the dealer.

From the Posts on here I've heard it could be something with the Throttle Body, o2 sensor, or even spark plugs. I have a SRT4 so it's gotta be something in common with your car. Keep us, me in the loop I'm interested in see what you find out.

Because these cars have computer controlled everything, I would say disconnect the battery negative terminal for ~10 minutes and reset the computer. If you are under warranty, you could bring it in.
Did the car throw any codes?

welcome to the forum btw.

Throttle Control

Roger, guys, and thanks for the input. I did indeed go out last night and started it up and drove it for a few miles and there were no problems at all. I guess I won't take it in yet, and if it does happen again I will disconnect and re-connect the battery. Much to my relief, I might add, this light went out...but we'll see what happens. Thanks, and I'm glad I joined the forum.
