Re: Q&A In Session: Wednesday, March 21st @ 6pm EST
this question is not so much to do with performance, but more or less quality. on the Previous SRT4 the seats were very uncomfortable, and the engine was very loud in the cabin of the car. Is there any significant improvements to make the interior noise less noticeable, at cruising speeds. I already hear the caliber is better for less road noise. How does the srt4 caliber hold up to quality vs. pure race car is what i'm askin

Good afternoon--thanks for participating!
Just got my Charger SRT-8 back from the dealership. Had the foamy ammonia smelling coolant and my brakes just started squealing at 12,500 miles. My dealership said that Chrysler will not approve the the TSB work for the alternate pads since I'm over 12,000 miles. Since I might have to pay for the replacement pads, how are they different from the stockers and how sure are you that they won't begin to squeal?
Thanks!

Well, I think there should be a trumpet or something before I answer this - pay attention now: the Caliber SRT4 will launch as a normal 2008 Model Year car. I think most of you know what that means in terms of timing. We don't have a specific date since there are all kinds of little last minute details. But it is safe to say that as the leaves change colors (for those of us here in the part of the country who get to enjoy that show of nature) dealers will have nice new SRT4's for you to play with.

Per the piston squirter noise on the SRT8's, there was a "clean date" after which this issue was addressed. What exactly was the solution that you came up with for the later build production models? And aside from changing to 15/50 oil is there any other solution for owners of vehicles built before the change?

The Caliber SRT4 is a front wheel drive vehicle. We could make it fly if we wanted to, but the objective is to offer the most bang for the buck.

We keep asking and you guys keep saying its being finalized. What really is going on with the trailer hitch for the GC SRT8? If it's not going to be made let us know so the people that are waiting for it can make other arrangements. PLEASE give a better answer than it's being finalized. I have seen that same response for over a year.

The change to the piston cooling jets was implemented in Jan of 2006.

Have you guys found an ideal way to launch the LX SRT8's? One member is adamant that full ESP on is the way to go but I haven't experienced this. By the way, I love my new Charger SRT8 and can't wait until more modifications become available....especially a tuning solution.
Thanks Team!
They are pretty accurate, but don't account for roll-out. As far as the best way to launch an LX is very driver and condition dependent. Even the dudes sitting in this room argue about how to launch the quickest. I personally like to brake torque at about 1500 RPM and launch with a smooth throttle application to WOT (similar to what you do). Others say just mash it from idle. Either way, what ever works for you.
