[quote=GOT]I own a Crapalier... I mean Cavalier and waited with great anticipation for the NEW & IMPROVED Cobalt to come out only to be completely disappointed with the lackluster design... the Cobalt is ugly. The design elements do jive and it's not very beautiful at all.

Perhaps a step up in platform design but I think the aestetics are worse. The Cavalier body is a nicely shaped thing... which is the biggest reason it was Chevy's #1 car for so many years. The Cobalt is simply OK. It's a car without much beauty.

The Caliber is slightly awkward in some places but over all the design is very well organized and pleasing. It's a well thought out shape with some great lines on it (and not simply a front and rear designed with some feature-less slab sides stuck between). I really like it for what it is.

Now there's a statement!! I have always said, "Buy American". Many have responded with quality complaints and such. I can only say that I've only had "issues" with the foreign vehilce my wife HAD to have. We no longer have that Axiom after an 18 month hold-em. Yep...buy American! It can only get better if we put our money HOME.

Buy American!

Good motto, and like you said, it can only get better the more money we put in...

I "buy American" if it's worth the money. And yeah I know it may be my job lost, blaa blaa blaa... but it has been my job lost and it would've been no matter what car I bought because it's not so much me but the manufacturers that are ripping their own! I've owned plenty of foreign cars because they were worth the money when an American make wasn't (but I still have owned more American cars than others). Anyways…

Re: Dodge Caliber has clever traits

"buying american" doesn't even make sense anymore. Japanese automakers are building more and more plants in North America. Ford is closing a half-dozen or so. I forget the number. The Caliber engine was joint-produced with a korean manufacturer. Cars are global now. There's no way of just supporting American. Hell, DCX is technically German now. I say every individual car should stand on its own. I hate Dodge trucks, but I love Dodge cars. Brand loyalty is a thing of the past. Companies have to convince me with each new purchase.

Re: Dodge Caliber has clever traits

agreed, it is a global economy. I bought a Dodge though, it says so on the car now that I think about it, it's my first one too.
