My air is not getting cold. Had it serviced but computer not sending signal for the air a/c to come on per the mechanic. He couldn't help me today too busy. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I am in Dallas, TX and the heat is overwhelming!

Please help!!!

This air conditioner compressor is always on, so there won't be such a signal, like other cars have, that brings in the clutch. It may be that the mechanic skipped this explanation, no way to tell, but it is an unusual system because it has no clutch. Cannot just listen for the clutch to "come in" with a clank, instead the compressor is a variable drive with a swashplate varied by some means by one of the computers. If the compressor locks up it shears the little tabs in the pulley and looks like it is working, but it is not.

I recently had the same problem, mechanic said it was unlikely that the computer and the compressor were both bad , first mechanic said the compressor wasn't getting a signal from the computer, went to another mechanic and he replaced the compressor, still wasn't cooling as good as he thought it should, 50°, he replaced the suction line which has an orifice that was probably clogged up with debris from the compressor when it crapped out , now have 44° air, $1288.00.
