Anyone else Military?

Hey, I was just wondering if I was the only Military guy who owns a Caliber on these forums...

I'm in the Air Force, currently stationed out at Mountain Home AFB, ID.

So any other Military people around?

There are at least 4 others that I have observed, as per content in their posts:

- "RiCEADDiCTBOY", an Air Force MH Tech at Lackland.

- "Mudstone", in Germany but apparently due to DEROS soon.

- "Ironside", in an Army Armoured Regiment (hence, his username).

- "Bruisey" in Okinawa, Japan but DEROS in June with PCS orders to Texas.

Also, at least 2 retired military members:

- Forum member "RobMR3"

- I'm retired military (Army Intel, break in service while active reserve, then returned to active duty in the Air Force in Intel, SP, and several Special Duty Assignment/lateral/liaison positions).

I commented in at least one other thread that there seemed to be many military folks here. I also attempted to inform several folks who were military and planning on buying or having concerns with their new-car purchase to utilize the services of their base/post legal office to review any contract and other transaction details (tax exemptions, legal residency status/advantages, etc) in order to best protect their rights and status as a military member.

There may be more who are military-affiliated by direct service (active duty, reserve, retired) or a family member who either haven't mentioned it or that I have missed. I'm sure that more may post, and others may prefer not to for reason.

EDIT NOTE: Also, a very significant number of our Forum membership is in Canada; I haven't noted any military members or family members from there yet, but wouldn't be surprised when we find out there are...

Bang,

Neat uniforms though. Not just their "duty" performance uniforms,

but their formal ones too. Examples:

Neat mascots, too:

I'm not in military, but I am using USAA for auto insurance... my dad flew H-46s (helos) and king-airs (planes) for the Marines before going back into the civ world as a pilot. He finished his 20 years up flying Chinooks for the air guard.
Holy hell Harley, do you just keep a spreadsheet of all the military folks? Or was that all off the top of your head?
HAHA That's great Superbang... I wish I looked that great. Luckily though, I don't have to risk life and limb for you guys, allthough, sometimes I wish I did. I basically calibrate anything that measures anything, make sure it works correctly and is accurate. Some things in your caliber I might calibrate would be like your Tachometer, or fuel gauges. But of course the F-15 and F-16 equivelant. Amongst tons of other things, scales, multimeters, oscilloscopes, scales, micrometeres, torque wrenches, just to name a few.

We do deploy for my job, but its just to do the same thing im doing now, only in an undisclosed location.

Just clarification, I am an AF Brat. I was turned down becuase of Food Allergies, and Kidney problems. Otherwise, I would've been 3rd gen AF. But there are plenty of fellow Armed Forces Members around here.

You're PMEL too? And from Okinowa? Awesome! Yeah, I don't think I know anyone out there, this is my first base. What section do you work in? And I'm with you about the respect thing, this is basically a 9 to 5 job for me. I don't feel like people shoudl be praising me for it...

Without the work of good soldiers like yourselves our pilots would have substandard dangerous planes to fly in. Without your work we would not have sucessful air missions that assist ground troops in their missions. Do not belittle the work you do. You guys keep our planes in the air, and our soldiers safer on the ground.

No problem. I'm from a military family myself. We've always had someone in every major conflict the US has ever been in basically. My dad was US Navy stationed in Puerto Rico as a electronic systems mechanic (or something), my Dad's brother was a nurse up near Washington D.C., my Mom's brother retired as a Lieutenant Commander from the US Navy after having served as flight surgeon on the USS John F. Kennedy and then finally as the Navy Hospital Commander in Okinawa.

Our current solider is my cousin who currently serves in Ft. Knox (after a tour in Iraq with the 5/20 BCO) as a Stryker driver trainer.
My wife went to West Point. Father in-law is a bird Colonel; mother in-law was some military nurse or something. Several other brothers and sisters in and or retired military.

Should this thread be in "Off-Topic Discussion"?
