I think unless you get the Musicgate system, you only get 4 speakers regardless of the model or choice of in-dash stereo. 1 in each door. I'm pretty sure about this but anyone positive on this?

You are correct, MusicGate adds the extra 5 speakers: 2 indash, 2 Liftgate and a subwoofer.

So you can still get the Music Gate even if you have the base stereo? I'm asking because I want the Aux jack for my Nano..

Yes, that's the way I ordered mine. The base stereo w/ input jack plus Musicgate. I believe the Musicgate package is available for all 3 stereo options.

Thats cool I did not know that. See, you do learn something new everyday. I thought the MusicGate upgraded the stereo as well to the one without the jack. Very cool.

It actually upgrades any of the stereo options. if i understand this correctly, you get the 5 additional speakers, the Boston Acoustics DSP amplifier chip and the steering wheel controls, no matter which radio you choose.

Hey all, I have a related question. Does anyone have a pic of the steering wheel controls? I have been trying to see how they are layed out - behind the wheel itself, or actually on it, like on the Mazda 3? Pics would be awesome!

The drawing is fundamental but correct The location is difficult to photograph as the switchs are really behind the steering wheel at 3 and 9 o'clock on the wheel. My Liberty has those controls and they are truly the best of kind. The right hand controls volume up and down with the center button controlling programmed station preset switching for the radio. The left hand button is selection up and down and the center button for source. Or close to that Really easy to master and does not require you to move your hands from the natural steering grip. Passengers are baffled at first because they can't see you pushing buttons

They are just like a push button right?

It is one piece that sort of pivots I guess up and down when you push it and there is a seperate round button in the middle. If you read the fine print in red at the bottom, you'd see why it looks like it does.

So, just to clarify...

On the base/stock radio that comes on the SXT, there is an auxillary input jack that I can hook up my mp3 player to?

Also, if I upgrade the speakers to include the Musicgate, that is how you end up with the radio controls on the steering wheel?

I have only been able to see a base model SE so far which is why I want to make sure. The salesman didn't know the answer to these questions...
