I came across a website (malcontent.typepad.com) with a discussion of whether the "Too Tough" caliber ad with the fairy is homophobic. Links to other sites with similar discussions, including whether the ad campaign as a whole is misogynistic.
Either I'm missing something or I'm one of the testosterone-charged homophobes they're complaining about. Guess I should be more careful when surfing the web.
I heard the same type of stuff being bantered around about the "fast" ads as being misogynistic because the guys were always laying the verbal smack-down on their ladies.
But... as for a car ad being homophobic... that's a bit of a stretch. I mean, having a miniturized construction worker flying around and zapping the Caliber wouldn't have much much sense - eh?
