Like I mentioned on another thread, I was waiting for Caliber to arrive and had put a deposit for it. The problem was that it was coming without uconnect. The dealership promised to install it like it was put in the factory. A couple of members advised me that it wouldn't be the same so I decided to recover my deposit.
I had two options, either order from factory (4-6 weeks) or go car shopping hoping to find something similar to what I was looking for. I decided for the second option and visited 5 dealerships.
One tried to sell me Caliber that they had "just" received. The problem was that it had 407 miles on it
. A couple dealerships only had 1 or 2 base models but the worst was the one in Hialeah, Florida. They had 4 or 5 Calibers so I went to check the sticker price. Besides the normal sticker the had another one that said "Limited Availability" and had $1500 listed for the SXT and $2000 for the R/T. When I ask the salesperson what was it, he said it was a surcharge they were asking customers to pay because of the "Limited Availability"
. Needless to say I didn't walk, I RAN away from there.
Finally, on the last one I found my car at a fair price. A nice black STX, with the blue sport package, uconnect, sunroof, 6 Disc changer, Sirius, convenience and security package. I will try to post pictures later if anyone is interested.
The moral of the story is you are looking into buying one, visit a lot of dealerships. The one close to your home may be convenient but it may not have the best price.
It may be interesting to share any good or bad experience while shopping for your caliber.
