Today I visited the AMI Autoshow in Germany. This was the first time I saw the Caliber in flesh. I must admit the Caliber is a car that definitely looks better in person than in pictures. Dodge showed a silver SE and blue SXT Diesel. Oddly the engine cover and the rear badge said "CRD" not "TDI" (it´s a VW-engine and VW does not use CRD but TDI). It was equipped with a 6-speed-manual-trans and leather seats (very nice!).

The Dodge guys gave no comment about the SRT-4. I still don´t know whether the SRT-4 will make it to Germany or not.
PLEASE DODGE!!!

THREE headrests in the rear seat?? That's different than US models. AND the fact that they look height-adjustable and aren't solid.

Was this a concept vehicle, or production-ready?

It also appears to have an in dash nav system? and does not have the black plastic along the edge of the roofline? interesting.

Edit: My mistake, its there, just the reflection and angle made it blend in.... guess I've been looking at too many pics lately

Interesting, the 3-head rests in the back seat.

The Diesel provides 140 hp and 320 Nm torque (sorry, I dunno what lb-ft. this is).
320Nm=236lb-ft... if I did the conversion right.

Germaneon, do you have images of the side of the Caliber with the doors closed? I'm wondering what the door handles looked like.

Cool, thanks! Interesting, there is the little side-marker-lamp on the Euro version.

With the success of the Liberty's CRD and the VW/Chrysler partership getting underway, we should see a Diesel Caliber in a few years... Unfortunately, it isn't as "smug" looking as the Insight and Prius appear to be, so I doubt it'll be as successful as those hybrids.

The same goes for somebody who offers all of the euro spec stuff aka ANTENNA!!, side marker lights, rear seat, etc
We gotta get JDM (or something similar) stuff for the american/canadian calibers to make them have the nicer euro stuf

No, just the bezel cover. The dashboard itself is the same, as is the slot where the radio goes. You'll need the specific mounting rails for the larger radio, but it will fit perfectly without modification. The new bezel doesn't have the "flares" to accomodate the volume and tuning knobs.

actually if i'm understanding you corectly, it's the other way around... i build dashboards for the lx line for dcx and if we're putting in a "173" which is our radio, than it would require a bracket to ensure that it sits properly in the centre stack which is described as the middle of the dashboard. however if we're placing the "646" which is the icu/gps module (the one with the big screen in it) we don't need to put in the bracket as it just sits in the gigantic gaping hole that the centre stack has been made to resemble. in fact all the radios that are provided for the caliber are available for the 300's, the magnums and the chargers. they're all the same... there's the 173's which are ours. the 171's which are exactly the same as the 173's but have chrome rings on the volume and tuning knobs. there are the 523's which have the in dash 6 disc player that can also play mp3/wma and cassettes. the 32's which are the same as the 523's but with the chrome rings as the 171's have. then there are the european ones... but they're just pretty much the same as the domestics. they require a specific security screw though...

i hope i'm not going to get fired for saying all this stuff....
