My impressions.

I spotted a maroon Caliber in the lot of a Dodge dealer that I passed by today. So I decided to stop and check it out. First thing I thought was how cheap can you get?? Everthing inside it felt cheap and not worthy of the $17k+ price tag. The knobs didn't turn smoothly, especially the HVAC knob. The switches didn't feel solid, and there was just a general feeling of cheap plastic. I don't know if this was a super basic bare bones model, because I didn't check the sticker too hard, but I did see it was a SXT with the CVT. I can't believe the amount of car I got compared to that for basically the same price. The SRT better come with it hard to overcome that.

Do you bitch about everything?
I dunno, I wasn't impressed by the caliber at the Dodge/Chicago motor shows.... I know they got beat up with lots of people sitting in them - but the center console (the arm rest) had already worked loose form the 4 screws that were holding it in place.

I would rather there be negative feedback so DCX knows what to fix instead of just 100% love regardless of faults.
I didn't think that it was nearly as cheap as you put it..
Dunnoo...:D
Dommo, perhaps you wanna be on the Maybach forums....maybe that's up to your standards....I dunno, the Caliber fits the bill for me. We ain't talkin a luxury auto here.
All I know is that it is better than 2nd Gen Neon that I drive. I push up on the dash in my car and I hear crackle all over the place. I did not hear that in the Caliber though.
and not worthy of the $17k+ price tag.
You mean a $14k+ vehicle and the replacement for the lowest budget car from a manufacturer. All I know is it's better then my previous car (Saturn SL2) and is on par with the similarily priced Ford Fusion....

The HVAC knobs are actually designed to notch somewhat into place and not turn smoothly. I like it...

Overall the car seems on par as every other vehicle in the price range that *I* test drove. Of course it isn't a beamer or acura.... and I don't expect that.
On the upside, I really do like the exterior. From all of the pictures on the internet, I wasn't sure I was gonna like it, but the small size together with that Dodge look, it just works.

I didn't mention that this one had the light gray interior, which I'm not used to. It just had a lot of wide open plasticky spaces. Looks like they only have 2 interior colors, the light gray and the beige, is that right? I think it would look alot better in black or dark gray with lighter gray inserts. The back had alot more room than pictures made it seem.

C'mon dude. I drive a Neon for christsakes. But my Neon's interior is more impressive to me than the one of the Caliber I looked at. Which is the only one I've ever seen up close.
Here's a link to the one I looked at. It gives the options and what not. $17085 is the MSRP, but they had it marked up another $2500. I feel bad for any sucker that goes into that dealership, because they mark up all of their new cars.
Yeah...they do..

The Caliber looks ok, not that bad. :D
