Our friends over at DetroitWonk have gotten their hands on advance copies of the upcoming Dodge Caliber commercials. Here's what they have to say:

Yes, we saw four of the new commercials for the all-new 2007 Dodge Caliber. Who wants to touch us? We said, who wants to touch us? Nobody? Ok, fine, we’ll show you them then.

The ads play up stylistic elements the Chrysler Group team hopes will differentiate the 2007 Dodge Caliber from other “CUV class” vehicles like the Pontiac Vibe and Ford Edge. The campaigns’ tagline is “Anything But Cute,” which leaves open a mess of adjectives that may or may not be associative with the Caliber (farcical, wine dark, lugubrious). I dunno, y’all tell us what you think after you take a look at the following Dodge-y goodness…

I said the same thing in the previous/other thread and explained why - equally careful to specify that I wasn't slamming the black color or anything like that.

Lots of half way decent flowing exhaust that are tuned, can make the engine sound bigger than it really is.

I realize that, but I've driven these and they don't sound like that. It's like watching a movie where the people take-off in a tny ass learjet and then you see them standing up inside a 737. Misleading advertisement, but hey, I'm not slamming it in any way. I'll still buy it.

Maybe they should put a disclaimer like "Objects may appear louder than they actually are."

The overall opinion of the Dodge caliber commercials has been positive. DaimlerChrysler is pouring allot of its Caliber adbudget into online advertising so additional video shorts, humorous print ads and possible mini games are on the horizon.

I use msn.com as a home page, and right now there's a caliber ad that plays whenever the home page comes up. There's a child-like drawing of some flowers in a row, which get plowed over by a black caliber. Anything But Cute.
