Hello, I have read lots of good stuff on here and today purchased my Caliber. It is a R/T AWD in Silver with Gray Leather Interior, this car rides amazing and quiet for a smaller car. The base stereo sounds good but needs a sub soon. Just took a ride to see what it looks like at night and it is impressive, the lights look great on the gages and the drinkholder lights look neat as well. Rides so good , handles so well. So far with less than 12 hours in I am smiling ear to ear. The wheels by the way 18" look great as well. Wanted an Orange or Red but the dealers here keep getting Blue, Silver, White, Black, The Silver looks slick but a little plain. Now its time to add stuff, like the nicer pedals, better mats, Sub and more. Fun Car.

Welcome to the forum. I am glad that you've taken the liberty to read several of the threads. There's a whole lot of REALLY good information being shuffled by all of the members.

Congratulations on your buy. As you 'break-in' your ride, share with us the things that you like and dislike. There's a thread around here with that specific topic.

Thanks, wonder why there is not more info on here about the stereo. I got the base in my R/T but it need a Sub bad. Considering the Basic low price Bazooka 8" with built in power. Not looking to break the windows , want to save space just add a little deeper bass. Any thoughts?

I dunno, I guess the buzz over the MusicGate has overshadowed the base sound system..how is it by the way?

Congrats on the purchase! :D

I think the base-system is great. Of course all I have to compare against is my last two Chevy Cavaliers. I did own a really great system in my 89 Wolfsburg Golf... it had a Blaupunk in it...
Yeah, Blaupunkt is awesome...they have funny comercials that the damn FCC won't air over here..:D
Oh, congratulations and welcome Flaps!
The base system sounds good but not great. Went online to see if anyone list the size of the speakers and if there are factory places to add more? Only thing it need for sure is a Sub. I just listen to regular music, but miss the bass of my last cars sub. Just going to get something small. Flaps
The size of the base speakers are 6x9 one-ways, probably with a paper cone tweeter (pretty cheesy). The other places you could mount speakers would be tweeters on the A-pillars or under the dash by the window where the upgraded speakers go. An 8" bazooka tube with it's own amp would be a good upgrade, but I'd also recommend to replace the factory speakers with either a 2-way or a 3-way 6x9 system; I'll leave the make to you as everyone has their own preference.

Hey thanks, how did you know the sizes? So the back and front are 6x9?

Also what fits up in the dash? Thanks, again for the info. Flaps
I got the sizes from a rep at Boston Acoustics. He told me that the spaces in the doors are 6x9 for the upgraded system. Logically the same size speakers would be used for the base system to keep construction costs in the doors to a minimum. The dash speakers are 2.5" tweetes so a nice 1" or 1.5" dome tweeter would fit just nicely!
Good and Bad News Today and maybe a question?

Hello again, well today was my 1st gas station visit and for my 1st tank of guess on an AWD R/T I got 25.8 mpg, pretty good for 1st tank and I was driving all city and not too smooth on my 1st week. Thats the good news, now the bad.

Today going to lunch the car started making a horrible noise coming from what seems like the trans, got back to work, called the dealer and they told be bring it over asap.

Once there they took it in instantly , did a test drive, put it on the rack and found one of the front struts had a leak? or something, they replaced it adjusted some things, washed the car and had me on my way in less than 2 hours. Smooth again, this car is fun to drive and so smooth for a smaller car.

Bad, was having an issue so soon, good , dealer was fantastic, above the call of duty here folks. So good, I need to mention the dealer.

Towbin Dodge in Las Vegas, NV. The home of the Chopper, the King of Cars TV show on A&E. They are really nice at this dealership and have done well by me.

Now my question, how come there is not more info on here about upgrading the basic stereo, adding amps subs and so on? I have narrowed it down to adding a Rockford Fosgate 8" Punch in a top line sealed box with an Infinity Amp to drive the Sub. Bos is only 12x12x10 and looks nicer than the average box. Total cost of parts including wiring and shipping. $115.00 , oh yea I already had the amp so 115 is for sub, sub box and wiring kit only. Any thoughts let me know, not looking to blow out the windows and want to use up as little space as possible but still have a real sub system.
