So here is a weird problem thats been going on for awhile thats getting kinda annoying. The heat vent on the driver side blows hot just as it should. The center drivers side blown warm, the passenger side center has less airflow and blows cool and the passenger side blows cold (so does the feet vent for the passenger side)

I'm at 39,000 miles so no warranty to take it to the dealership. Anyone have any ideas? I have checked the coolant levels and they are just fine.

yeah its crazy! It doesnt bother me cause im never a passenger but i do feel bad for anyone who sits in there when its cold cause it littlerally blows cold air on them and they freeze. I have however noticed that my car is run abnormally cold recently. Given it did it before that. But it has been running at around 168

check the thermostat, and it could also be a partially blocked blower motor as well.

That is definitely an interesting problem though. Do you have a digital thermometer, or just a thermometer that you can take the temps of all of the air vents with?

Ok so I got out my digital thermometer and here are the readings from left to right. 132-105-85-60 then out of the floor vents 111 and 58. Now correct me if I'm wrong but if the thermostat was stuck open shouldnt I have no heat at all or at least just warm and then cold? I'm still going to check it even though its brand new but I just havent had time yet and dont really like working in the cold.

yea, unlikely its the thermostat..

It could potentially be a blend door thats not opening or closing, etc etc..

Thats a tough one there

yeah thats definitely weird. is the air flow from all the vents about the same?

hows the defroster work?
So i never checked the defroster cause its never really been used. So I went back out let it warm up the drivers side of the defroster was hot the passener side was cold so im sure the temps were identical to the other vents lol.

The airflow to the passenger side vent does seem somewhat reduced. But it did even back when the heat worked.

Hmmm yeah that would make sense. I wonder if there is an easy way to check the blend doors. I knew this was going to be a big pain.....I'm almost just going to plug in a small heater for the passenger side that wont cost me a fortune to fix.

I have the exact same problem? Did anyone ever figgure this out?
Nope :( Still broken! If you figure something out please let me know. I'm kinda waiting till it warms up so I can take things apart now that I dont have a heated space to work in. I dont do much to the car during the winter or early spring.

Well how about posting the link or reposting what it was for the jeeps. I know we would both appreciate any help or ideas.

I'll see if I can find the time to dig up the actual info.
Off the top of my head, what I know is the jeeps (GC mostly) tend to brake the plastic arm used to move the vent doors from cold to hot.
The fix for the jeeps is to replace the crappy plastic assembly with the upgraded metal kit (~$150 for parts). On the jeep GC, the easiest way to do this is to cut a small hole inside the glovel box and remove/replace the parts through this hole. Alternatively, you'd have to pull the dash and heater core appart (hens why the dealers charge ~$1500 for labor to fix this).
I am not sure if this is the same issue on the Calibers, but the problem is the exact same (heat on one side, but not the other). I'll see what I can find for info.

Pain in the butt!!!

Ok so the problem is the Heater Core. They get plugged and then the coolant can't get to the passenger side. Now the bad news is that you have to remove the whole dash down to the firewall to replace the heater core. The part is about $100 online or at a dealer. I could not find it at a parts store in town. If you plan on taking it to a shop or dealer hang on to your wallet !! This is a all day job and the bill will run you between 800- 1000$. I hope this helps!!
