Well my caliber has it's VIN and is waiting for a date to start production. woohoo! I'm getting an inferno red R/T with most of the options minus leather, sunroof, and chrome rims. I'll keep this thread updated with it's progress through the factory if anyone is interested.

Major update on page 5

Congratulations on your new Caliber. Please let us know your first impressions and how you like it. If you contact the DiamlerChrysler Customer Assistance Center, you can check the vehicles build/ship status.

Although It may not be in the system for a few days, you can always try contacting them at 1-800-992-1997 (Mon-Fri 8-8 EST). Supply them with a VIN/VON and they should be able to pull your vehicles status.

Thanks, that's how I got the VIN number and the production status in the first place though... It's at D btw. In line for production but not yet scheduled. At least that's what it was earlier today.

Do you happen to know what the time frame for what production usually is? I'd love to get this car ASAP. It'd be great to get them out on the road. Especially out around where I live (San Francisco bay area).

most people take from anywhere from 1 month to 5 or 6 depending on how far down you are on the list

Just got off the phone with my dealer. It's looking like a 3 week build time on the general orders they placed. And this being a customer order should go a bit faster. So my car is in D status (scheduled to be built) and hopefully it'll be in the plant by wednesday and at my door about a month after that.

Quick update, albeit a major one.

My car has progressed to D1 scheduling status. Meaning that it has a scheduled build and ship date. Being, March 7th, build, March 8th, Ship. I should have my R/T at the latest on March 18th. woo!

... how about back-ordered by a lot.. ya gotta figure the pre-orders come first, then the dealer-sets & then the overstocking sets.
Are you saying it's going to be back ordered? Because it's scheduled to be built... That means it's going to be built and shipped then...

The musicgate has no relevance to the deck in the car. It's just the speaker package. You can keep the base deck (which is the ONLY one with an AUX input on the front) and get the musicgate. Or you can upgrade the radio which can add MP3/WMA playback and even the 6 disk changer in dash. But if you upgrade the deck, you lose the convenient AUX input (I have no idea why they did it this way)

And I put USD$500 down. Ordered from Lithia Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Concord.

As an added bonus they have free entertainment in the form of union members on strike who are there everyday for your enjoyment and bewilderment.

Your headunit options are seperate from your sound system options. You can get the auxiliary jack without getting the MusicGate option, if you would like.

You can put down as much or as little as you have. I put down only $320, because that's all I had on me at the time and I was not about to go get more cash anywhere else.
