Parents Caliber

My parents just picked up a Stone White Caliber the other day. So I stop by and gave it the once over. First off, driver's door is a bit*ch to close. Paint is all screwed up (chipped from factory, debris in paint, holes in paint), left rear door isn't aligned properly, and it was not detailed when they picked it up. Anyway, my father tells me that he wanted the sunburst orange and the dealer said it was not available until September. I was like WTF! The dealer also told him that he is the only one in the entire United States to actually have one of these as all of the Calibers currently at dealers are demos only.....again WTF! I told him to go back to the dealer and create a big deal about the paint and call their bluff on the other shizz and have them get him the Caliber he wants. Okay, now that my rant is over, I have aa question. Seeing as his car will more than likely have to be repainted, if he complains about wanting to get rid of it and get the orange one, do you think the dealer will oblige his request?

They told me they looked it over, but I'm more anal about cars than my parents. I'm thinking about getting DCX involved with this because the dealership basically flat out lied to them about the vehicle (colors, availability, them being the only ones to own one).

OMG....the ONLY ones I've seen here in Cleveland are Sunburst Orange, I've been trying to find another color...lol, yesterday I found a metallic red (I don't know the official name), but it was to be delivered to the customer in about 20 minutes so I couldn't test drive it...the damn things are sold as soon as they come off the truck

Something’s definitely not right.

My strong suggestion is that you contact the DaimlerChrysler Customer Assistance Center and inform you of the troubles your parents are having with there brand new Caliber. They are the corporate entity that handles all disputes between consumer and dealerships.

From what you said above, there are certainly things the dealership did not do in accordance to DaimlerChrysler policies. You can contact them using the following contact information:

DaimlerChrysler Customer Assistance Center
PO Box 21-8004
Auburn Hills, MI 48321-8004
Toll Free: 1-800-992-1997 (Mon-Fri 8am-8pm EST)

I would suggest calling them Monday morning; additionally you may also wish to contact another local dealership for future service concerns. The alignment problems may be something they will gladly fix under warranty, especially concerning your difficulties with your current dealer.

I apologize on behalf of the dealership and the corporation, hopefully DCCAC can resolve this issue for you.

You should under all circumstances contact them and put a stop to all this nonsense. The dealer is messing with you and not getting your parent's what they... if youre really really lucky you can get him fired.

And maybe get the Sunburst Orange to replace this one! :D

Thanks for the help peoples. I'll keep all of you informed as to the progress of the "Saga of the Caliber".
I really hope they get this worked out!! Contact Chrysler like Dan said!!
Re: Parents Caliber **UPDATE**

Spoke with DCX and they told me that basically the only thing I can do would be take up the issue with the dealership. However, they do have our conversation documented so if any questions arise I've got a hard copy so to speak. Anyway, tomorrow we'll be headed to the dealership and we're going to see I they'll be willing to order us a Sunburst Orange one and just do a swap with our current one (see as it was a demo). Again, I'll update you all further tomorrow. Again, thanks for the support. ;)
That sucks...I hope things work out at the dealer. Sound like they're just lazy to me. I used to work at a Chrysler dealership, sounds like a bunch of BS...

good luk
That is complete bullshit. Go yell at them. :D
**Second update**

Alright, stoped by the dealership this morning. Spoke with the sales manager an told him about the BS story the salesman gave my parents. He seemed to care...... Then we spoke to the service rep. They will be contacting DCX about redoing the paint. The "hard to close" drivers side door is a known problem according the svc rep. And they will be realigning the left rear door as well. They were pretty much kissing our arses. I just hope they fire that salesman.....what was his name......oh yeah......Fabio! :D Anyway, once the repairs are made, I'll let ya know how it went. Oh, one other thing, these dumbasses also left greasy fingerprints in the car after it was allgedly "detailed".....f'ing tools!!!

Its good to hear things got worked out with your dealership, I am sure someone will hear about the sub-standard satisfaction you had with the sales person.

Being the first Caliber in the NJ area, having your parent’s car absolutely perfect should be top priority. Think of yourselves as ambassadors for the Caliber in each of your areas.

Once again I apologize for "Fabio" and hope your parents enjoy there new caliber.

 Is this somehow supposed to answer xxsrt4xx's question? Because if not, maybe this should go in its own thread instead...?? (and once there, could you please explain the significance of "job 1".)

Thanks for the help Dan! I just really hope they reprimand him for his really crappy salesmanship. Come to find out, he just started working for them a couple months ago.
What the hell is Job #1?!?

I'm glad you're getting stuff worked out man. Recommend the Caliber to people around you! :D

Sure you're in the right forum?? Why would a Caliber have a tow group package?

Isn't that supposed to be an option?? Maybe late availability?
