Due to lack of activity, the Caliberforums photo contest has been put on hold indefinitely. Should interest re-arise, we may consider restarting the photo contest in the future.

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to everyone that participated!

I had to postpone my submission, as my photo op yesterday was delayed until this Friday.

Why not just consider extending it until the end of the month/last day of May?

Surely, the Memorial Day holiday and weekend here in the US may provide others an opportuniuty to obtain and submit some favorite sports team, etc-themed photos?

ehh, then what happened every other month? the biggest turn out we had i think was 5 or 7 entries. to tell you the truth, we made this happen because everyone made such a big deal about it. But once it actually did gt started interest just wasnt there anymore. this was meant to be fun, something the whole forum looked forward too. but instead only a select few participated.

no big deal, some ideas sound good in theory but dont turn out so good in practice.

Also, perhaps a survey or other measure of what topics/themes may create submissions that could help predict participation in advance?

I don't know if it would be appropriate to suggest some here, or if you start a new thread requesting input.

Some themes that could be popular and generate interest/participation could be:

- Your Caliber at work/school (parked at work, actually being used as part of your job or school activities, etc).

- Your Caliber in horrible weather conditions (snowed in, heavy rain, etc).

- Your Caliber in competition (racing, car show, etc).

- Caliber parked at or near a famous/interesting/amusing landmark.

- Dirtiest (!) Caliber - referring to dirt, mud, etc.

- Most artistic "Caliber with owner" pic.

- Best shot of your Caliber "on the open road".

Etc, etc - help me out here, folks...

NOTE: I was away from the forum for several months and have limited time at the moment to post and research, so I don't know if this has already been done nor if any of these themes have already been done.

the very first contest was open for everyone to post themes. we had capped it at 15 or so suggestions (whatever the max poll amount is), we got maybe 5 suggestions. we also had a sticky or everyone to suggest themes, and always advised the winner to check them out before making up their mind on the next theme. the contest was always the members contest and we were always open to suggestions (as we are on pretty much anything that goes on here) but there just wasnt enough interest.

understandably, it was extracurricular and required us and everyone who participated to dedicate even more time than we already do to this place. anyway, its not erased, like bruce said if interest comes back up one day, we will consider another run.

if the photo contest is gone for the time being, then i say we at least do a members featured ride for a month or two, and feature it, plus a mod list etc etc on the main site page..

It makes the site feel more based around the members to have a picture of a members car on the main page

i cant do anything on the main page, i dont have access to that.

besides, thats essentially what the contest was, and it could of been a lot more. but even a members ride of the month thing would require member participation, and since barely anyone participated in the contest i dont see why they would in this. because essentially its the same thing. members send pics in, 1 gets chosen for that month and next month it starts over. the contest was that but with a theme lol.

It was fun while it lasted.
Unfortunately I had only been able to participate in one contest, as the car was asleep during the winter, and as for sports teams, all we have here worth talking about is hockey, and no one outside of Ontario would know who the Sudbury Wolves are.

Anyway, thanks for the effort.

my input (desired or not)

-i did not even know about the contest until March. May it could be a sticky in the picture post threads so it is more visable.
-lift the 6 month of no entries rule for winners. at least limit it to one month, so you cant set yourself up with a good theme for yourself.
-kick the guy's arse for thinkin up that last theme. GEESH!

well, making a sticky is kinda moot. the contest has its own section. it does suck for those who enjoyed the contest, but its not worth the hassle to have just a handfull of participants. besides its not like we gave up after 1 or 2 contests, we gave it 6 months to catch on.

Maybe ... just ONE more month?

But, make the theme: "Your Caliber Parked in Front of Your Favorite Hooters Restaurant/Strip Bar/"Gentlemans Club"/Etc With the Work-Attired Female Staff"?

If THAT doesn't get some participation - or at least ENCOURAGE and/or MOTIVATE some participation - NOTHING will. :pimp: :jester:
I have suggested a "Girls, girls, girls" theme in the past.
I think that should have covered that for ya.

Well, I'd participate, but maybe that proves something I read a few places - the Caliber MUST be a "gay car".

I'm not (not that there's anything WRONG with that); I always just snickered at any guy driving a Mazda Miata.

Now, excuse me while I return to bed with this college cheerleader and another chick who just spent the night. I think one of them's name is Kelly or Kerry or something like that...

figures, the one time i finally submit a photo! lol!

I think to bring more attention we the "photo of the month" winner should get a different icon that symbolizes the win, their photo should be featured on the website homepage for the entire month and there should be a Q&A interview to go along with it. Maybe even a sponsored T-Shirt and/or window sticker to the winner. THAT should bring some attention...

Oops, totoally forgot about your homepage post.

Normally there is a post on the homepage done with the winner.

We wanted to make sure that there was interest in the contest before trying to get vendors involved/special icons/etc
