The session is in progress, please post your questions only after reading the entire thread to assure your question has not already been asked and answered.

OK every one. It's time for all good little SRT engineers to go home and get some sleep so we can come back tomorrow and continue to bring you the outstanding products we've all been talking about. As always, thanks to all of you for joining us tonight and thanks for following the rules (mostly). We truly do love being out here on the forums with you. Not sure which forum we're on next month but look for the posting and we'll let you know as soon as we figure it out.

Re: Q&A Session Begins Wednesday, March 15th from 6pm to 8pm EST

Sorry for breaking th erules and posting ahead of time but I won't be able to be on later tonight.
So as a fellow mechanical engineer and car guy, I think it is way cool for the SRT guys to be doing this, keep up the good work!

The new SRT-4 will be a 300hp FWD vehicle. Question is what was the reasoning behind not putting AWD in the vehicle? I know its not because you guys are afraid of the STi and EVO right! ;) I know you can't tell us about future plans, but was there at least discussion about AWD and its possibility in the Caliber SRT-4?

One last comment, I believe you guys need to make sure that the Caliber has the correct answer to the question: That thing got a Hemi?
Because if you guys don't then I might!
ooooh can anyone say Caliber SRT-8!

They already said they decided not to make it AWD to cut down cost, to keep it AFFORDABLE, and to keep the weight down.

And of course it doesn't have a damn hemi... it's got the new 'world engine'.

As far as the FUTURE "AWD version" of the caliber, you KNOW they're going to say "cannot answer questions regarding future projects".

Re: Q&A Session Begins Wednesday, March 15th from 6pm to 8pm EST

Why dont they say the I-4 has a hemi design also.
But now if they can fit an ls2 into a pontiac solstice...

...
because it has a pent roof combustion chamber... not hemispherical.... it has 4 valves , not 2.... pretty much nothing in common.

Re: Torsional Stiffness

What is the Caliber's chassis torsional stiffness in N-m/deg or lbs-ft/deg?

For reference, how does it compare to the old Neon SRT-4's torsional stiffness?
Re: Q&A Session Begins Wednesday, March 15th from 6pm to 8pm EST

My first question is why did Dodge drop the Neon SRT-4? Also how is the SRT-4 Caliber making 300hp stock, when the Neon SRT-4 only makes 230hp stock? The Caliber looks heavier than the Neon. Did you give the Caliber a bigger turbo or something? More forced air induction? Bigger fuel rail/injectors? Is the SRT-4 Caliber stock under the hood similar to the stage 3 Neon SRT-4?

Please hold off on posting your questions in this section until that time. Thanks.
Good evening to all. I see we have quite a few of you joining us already. We expect quite a turnout tonight since the introduction of the Caliber SRT4 at Chicago a couple of weeks ago. We will make every effort to keep up with the crowd but to help us out by remembering that we will not answer any questions regarding future product. Also we would ask that you limit your additional responses to our answers to just a couple so we can try and get to as many as possible. Thanks to all and here we go.
Re: Q&A Session Begins Wednesday, March 15th from 6pm to 8pm EST

I have a few questions about the recently released camber plates...

(1) Will the Mopar camber plates fit properly on a stock 2005 ACR, or are there fitment issues?

(2) Is grinding the clevis bolt hole, as specified in the SRT-4 ACR service manual update, a similar/better/worse alternative to using front camber plates?

And similarly, for the rear, would using four Mopar adjustable rear control arms be a similar/better/worse alternative to using rear camber plates?

(3) The service manual update also adds the installation of camber bolts. Why not use the regular bolts instead of the thinner camber bolts, especially now that the clevis bolt hole has been ground?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Q&A Session Begins Wednesday, March 15th from 6pm to 8pm EST

Q: What kind of 1/4 miles times should we expect from a bone stock SRT-4 Caliber? Can you be more specific than "13s"?

Thanks, nice car guys. Caliber is gonna pwn Europe!
Re: Q&A Session Begins Wednesday, March 15th from 6pm to 8pm EST

I've heard there will not be an AWD Caliber SRT. I still want one. Will one be coming out? When am I going to be able to get it? Do you take Visa, or do I need cash or certified check?

We don't have the torsional stiffness numbers here with us, but it is SIGNIFICANTLY stiffer in bending and torsion than the Neon body.
Re: Q&A Session Begins Wednesday, March 15th from 6pm to 8pm EST

You guys rock, thanks for coming out again, and keep up the great work. Hoping for that Pro-Stock SRT Stratus to get some rounds in this weekend. Do you sponsor anything else besides that and the drift cars? Any plans for the Caliber next year in NHRA?
Re: Q&A Session Begins Wednesday, March 15th from 6pm to 8pm EST

how much does the caliber weight and will there be any stg upgrades for it?
Re: Q&A Session Begins Wednesday, March 15th from 6pm to 8pm EST

How do they get 300hp out of the caliber? Is is the old SRT-4 engine modded up w/the Stage 3 kit?
Re: Q&A Session Begins Wednesday, March 15th from 6pm to 8pm EST

What is going to be the base price for the Caliber SRT-4? Is it in the same price range as a Neon SRT-4?
