For those of you who have ordered a Caliber, how long has it taken until you get your VIN number? And how long till you got a build date assigned?

Just wondering what to expect, and when to start bugging my salesman about it!!!
(I hate to bug my salesman, but he DID say I should!)

I got a build date about one week after my order and at the same time got my vin number. I just called for the status of my vehicle and they gave me the replacement vin.

I place my order March 6th. Don't have VIN or build date yet. Was told approximately six weeks to delivery.

You'll get the VIN once the frame is on the line and under construction. That'll depend on how many cars are in front of yours and how long they're cranking them out. Then theyll have to drive test them, then ship them. Six weeks is about right.

You should get your VIN no more than two weeks after the order. Average time for a vehicle frame to hit the line is about a week after an order is placed, so any longer than that and you might want to call about it.

Since this is a new vehicle and there seems to be a lot of special orders (17,000??) at the same time DCX is trying to get basic models out, I'm curious to know what in the "actual" times have been so far.

What's a "replacement" VIN, anyway?

I ordered mine march 7th and it is scheduled to be built on april 7th. If that gives you any kinda of time frame.

I ordered mine around Feb. 2nd. Got a VIN a few days later. The car was built on March 7th, and should have shipped on the 8th. I called DCX a few minutes ago to get an updated status but their system is being updated (why they didn't do this in the middle of the night when no one needs it, you know like every other company in the world, is beyond me). But the car should have been shipped on the 8th, the lastest yesterday the 9th. So I should have it in less than 10 days.

I just got off the phone with Dodge Customer Service. I called hoping to get my replacement VIN and order status. I was told that information for orders on 2007 models was not available because none were being built until summer. Huh??? The customer rep was confused when I told her that production began last month. I assume their computer system is not updated, but I thought others here had gotten updates by calling Dodge. I left a message with the dealer and am waiting to hear from him. Anyone else having trouble getting updates??

As of today, I have a VIN, my car is in D1 status, and the estimated ship date is March 29. wooo!!

I called dealer today about my order placed March 6th. Was given a Vehicle Order Number and estimated ship date of 3/29. I called DCX to check status and was told they have nothing in system with my VON. Confusing.
....Anyway, my order is a red sxt, 2.0, cvt, leather, convenience group, alloy wheels, fog lights, musicgate.

Each dealer is given allocation during the first one and a half weeks of the month. If your dealer has allocation when you order one, you will have a VIN the next day. From that point, it is 4 to 6 weeks out.

i called dcx canada they tell you to ask for it when you press zero to speak to an agent (also when on hold ) so i asked for it and its valid only 3 months so wait till your about to receive your full vin or your car

Looks like I'll be calling DCX tomorrow to know exactly when is my car arriving on April 20th.. lol..

I went to see Jimmy and saw the boss (you know him, don't you? hehe).. Chat a little bit with'em.. Laughed a bit about my Daewoo and I'll be the first Orange colored Manual Transmission to be delivered.. I'm "DC1" since april 4th and expected delivery on April 20th.. WOOT!! So We'll probably be on the same train.. Heard you had yours delayed a week or two.. At least you'll know your car went through Quality Control checks!

I'll make sure to make a round or two of my car when I get possession of it..

D'you know how much will be the Fog "Black Contours" inserts that we see on Mopar papers? I will certainly add this and the chrome Gas input door..
