Does anyone know if you can swap the roof rail from the 2007 Jeep Compass to the caliber? The Jeep Compass roof rack system is alot better than the Caliber roof rack OEM.

DC should have done this with the caliber also. Check out the picture!

Sport-Utility Bars mount to the original equipment Roof Rack to expand carrier capacity from 32 to 50 and allow other roof top carriers to be installed with ease. Bars are made of black or brushed aluminum to help protect against corrosion, while T-slots allow for quick carrier installation.

I don't think they're interchangable. Compass has a build-in roof rack that this rack attaches to. Caliber does not & needs to be drilled & screwed into the door jamb from what I've heard/seen.

I want to replace the rubber roof molding of the Caliber to the Compass build-in roof rack.

I'd be more willing to make that conversion than to drill into the body

Hi all,

Since we are on the subject of the Caliber roof rack...

Has anyone ordered the sport utility rails recently? I ordered a set when I purchased the car in mid-August and they are still on backorder. No one at the dealer can get me an answer other than "we inquire weekly and are told it is a supplier issue with no known resolution date." :(

I bicycle regularly and I would rather have the roof mount over installing a receiver hitch & carrier or worse yet strapping a carrier to the rear hatch.

Thanks.

That's awesome. Is that the new Dodge one? Or where is it from? How does it attach? (still toying with the roof rack or hitch idea for my bikes...) Thanks very much.

kdogg,
It is not a Dodge part. I figured that putting on the OEM roof rack still need drilling and I did not like the way it attached to the doors. I found Perrycraft roof rack system model number AV4048B . You need to drill holes and screw it on.

That scares me... But it looks good. Strong enough to hold a couple of bikes?

edit: And thanks for the info. I'll definately look into it...

My daughter needed a roof rack for her old Escort to carry a canoe a few years back so I went to a wreckers and took one off an old Chevy Cavilier wagon. Installed it using sheet metal screws, perfect fit, looked great. Only one thing wrong, all of the pointy parts were sticking a 1/4" through the headliner.

Where did you order the perrycraft system and how much was it? The best looking roof rack install for the Caliber that I've seen!
Yes I agree looks good. Does it howl at all though? I know alot of roof racks are unbearable. This one would be stuck on always.

Thanks I got it for $161 shipped. You need to call them because they dont carry the Aventura Roof Racks in stock. Other reatailers sells it for over $200 plus shipping. http://www.a1-autoracks.com/roof.html.

As far as howling sound, I have noticed very litle, just turn up your radio. :D You can remove the cross bar.
