Stopped at the dealership to get the low down on the SRT
production date. Sales Manager told me production of the
the Caliber SRT will start in 90 days. Looks like it will
be a very HOT summer this year indeed.

Actually now on second thought, I agree..isn't the supposed release date June-July 2007?

and the minor detail that almost NO dealers know when they're getting cars anyways.. usually its the "in 2 months" ... you check back.. same answer .. that whole deal... just dont believe em, cause if that were true we woulda heard somethin on allpar by now ;)

When I was first shopping for a SRT-4 back in I don't even know when, nobody knew anything. They said November....OK, now January....OK, now blah blah blah. I bet if it's going to be a 2007 model, it won't be out any sooner than the fall.

I'm still going on summer 07.. or late spring?

Don't get me wrong, if it was my choice, it'd be out now, I just don't want to get my hopes up.. :D

I work outside the Caliber plant and according to what we were told, SRT production wont start til early 2007. However, I dont know how true that is since last week alone I saw 10 of them. 5 were shipped the others were driven around the test track and local highay. I am assuming these are probably the 'crash' test cars ??

The dealer is probably the worst source of information regarding any vehicle, pre or post production.

Again, the Caliber SRT-4's that will be at the SRT Nationals in JULY 2006 are preproduction mules, and will be the latest version of the vehicle.

If you want to ride in an SRT-4 Caliber this summer, I'll see you in Topeka.

My friend who works on SRTs (Viper, SRT10, SRT8, SRT4...) just got back from training seminar that have showed him the new SRT4. According to the Dodge, the production will begin Spring of 2007. The car is being heavily tesed .

hmmm, how do they get the fancy motors and stuff onto the assembly line? or are these hand-assembled units?
the motors come from somewhere else and we just put it all together. what i have heard they are having problems with the transmission because there is so much power coming from the motor

i'll need an official dodge press release (or maybe if Jason Vines whispers in my ear) before I believe this ;)
This is your best bet, if you recall the SRT thread they mentioned a few times they were still working on various parts and configurations for the Caliber SRT-4. Just give it some time, the Caliber SRT4 will be released 'when it’s ready".

To anyone who might know:
Are they, Dodge, still going forward with the FORD branded 6 speed trans?

There's nothing wrong with Dodge using Fords parts. On my first gen ACR Neon, the center caps of the aluminum wheels used Ford Caps. Jags use GM electronics.

Is the Tremec a Ford Motor Company part or are they just a customer of a third party vendor? If so, then it's not really a Ford part...:D
