Little more information about why they didn't go with AWD on this baby... it was pretty well the reason we all expected;
"Fast And Furious Wagon
We loved the original Dodge Neon SRT4. It was a rowdy little beast that snorted, snapped and popped like a modified street racer. It did front-wheel-drive burnouts with ease, and with Mopar parts could top 300 hp. Well, the guys from SRT have unveiled that car's replacement. It's the Caliber SRT4 and this little wagon comes with 300 turbocharged and intercooled horses--stock. That's Mitsu Lancer Evo and Subaru STi territory, folks. The Caliber SRT4 does carry about 200 extra pounds over the SRT4 Neon, but then again the Caliber is infinitely more practical and looks much more butch. Backing the new 2.4-liter powerhouse is a six-speed manual and front-wheel drive. We had a chat with SRT's main man Dan Knott a few months ago and he said they had debated the virtues of front versus all-wheel drive on this project. It basically came down to cost and weight. Having the performance advantage of all-wheel drive would have meant a much steeper price. We think it'll be a fun ride with front drive, especially because a limited-slip diff comes standard. Dodge is promising 0 to 60 times of less than 6 sec. Sign us up.--Ben Stewart"
