timing and knock

i have my boost turned down to 16psi, because of the colder weather my a/f is much leaner.
heres what i want to know, my timing is still setup for my 21psi. can not having enough timing on 16psi cause knock?

my knock (1.1 at wot) seems kinda high for my boost level and an a/f of 11.2-11.6

any thoughts.

You have more chance of getting knock at colder temps. Do you use 91, 93 octane?? I am sure the timing has something to do with this too.

11.2 at 16 psi thats a little rich, is that at 3-4k rpms and then richens to 10's at redline.
its 30 degrees out and mines at 20psi at 12.0-12.2, but still reaches mid 10's at redline with a slight st knock of 1.1 for a spit second till the meth starts spraying at 10psi....then staight 0.
50/50 should give me 116 octane:icon_eek:

i run nothing but 93 oct.

greg, i have a fic so i dont really spike to much. i hit like 12.1 then it sits at 11.2-11.5 all the way to redline.

the clamp was good, it was just my car. the clamp and my car didnt see eye to eye.:jester:

same crap with the fic at the moment, the car likes to break up at normal driving. i add a little fuel and its ok for one day, then the next day i have to pull fuel.
it did this to me real bad the other day, it went lean and was breaking up bad :icon_flaming: so put it to the floor. the car didnt go anywhere at first, it bogged and the a/f was 10.0 then went real lean again and broke up then straight into wheel spin.

heres what i dont understand, its not like this every day. it does this randomly and runs perfect some days. i have the same problem at wot with the knock, sometimes its 0.0 and others its over 1.0
i hope thats not the case with my car. i sent my clamp back thinking it was a bad one. i hope when i get the new one back that it works and its not that my car just doesnt want a clamp on it.

i didnt have the problems you were having, yours sounds like a bad clamp.
i wired mine in 3 different times and couldnt get the low map voltage issue to go away so i said to hell with it.

if that clamp didnt give me problems i would still have it. its much easier to deal with and you cant beat tuning with a screwdriver.

my car cuts out if you run it around 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, i dont know if its from bypassing all the selinoids or if the meth injection nozzle is too much at partial throttle, because am pushing 20psi at 1/2 throttle.

i either floor it or drive it like a grandma....my wife thinks im crazy, buy a brand new car and ruin it in her eyes:notallthere::banger:

I think I've told you already, I get around the same knock as you do but I'm at 18-19 psi..

i will have probably gotten rid of my car by the time that comes out.

their is a big difference, its 40 degrees here and my car was tuned in 70+ degree weather.

i did some more adjusting, so i should be good for a day or 2 before it goes nuts again.
i was hitting 17psi today for some reason. first pull i did, knock was 1.1 from 4700 to redline. i did the same pull again to see what would happen, it hit 1.1 for a sec. then back to .3

the weird thing was that it used different cells on the fuel load map on the second pull. can anyone explain this?

i did a 3rd pull and my knock only hit .3 for a quick sec. then back to 0.0 up to redline, WTF is going on? so i stop their, was not sure what to do.
You would see similar with a clamp. Engine temps, air, variance from one moment to the next will cause this....anything 1.1 and lower is fine and confirmed by the SRT engineers.

I would not over think this.

I haven't looked at the sg recently but I'll let you know tonight how my knock is. I know I always just get a second or so of 1.1 and then falls, never 1.1 until redline

do you always get gas from the same gas station? maybe you need some techron or invigorate :dunno:

my car is tuned on sunoco 93 with 10% ethanol.

i use shell sometimes because its better gas and free of ethanol, the car likes it better. its a 10 mile drive to the shell station so i dont always get it.

i dont have any other choices for gas and shell is by far the best around here. anything that is ethanol free is best.
