Just out of curiosity what's everyone paid who's gotten their windows tinted?

Price and number of windows tinted I suppose would make for the best estimates.

$169 for 5% tint on all windows and a 8" strip across the windshield
$240 for 20% all the way around sides and backs with a lifetime guarantee
Free cuz I'll do it myself. And not that cheap $&#% from walmart either. I'll be using the best stuff money can buy, good ol' 3M; and you actually can't buy it in any store but if you talk to someone that tints, they can probably sell you a short roll. I used to tint on the side for beer money but I'm taking out the windows and gonna do a flats jobs on my car. That way the tint goes all the way to the edges of the windows, and down to the frame. Harder but definitly worth it on mopar vehicles becaue they have such aggresive window weather stripping.

There was a place on eBay that was selling the pieces pre-cut. I almost went that route, but then decided that my kids really did not need to hear "those" words anymore than usual.
20% all around (no windshield) for $95 with lifetime guarantee.
n00b question on tinting.

Does a higher or lower percentage mean the tints will be darker?

Depends if you look at it as

if you want to let a % of light through

or

if you want to block a % of the light

Usually the higher the number the darker it is, check local laws before doing it. They may present the % in one of the ways I listed above

example: The law may say 80% of sunlight must enter the windows, so you must get at max a 20% tint to allow for at least 80% sunlight to enter the vehicle.

Also can be presented the opposite way, example, must only block a max of 25% of the sunlight then it is just that number or less.:D

around here, the lower the number, the darker it is, 5% is considered "limo tint"

but we're ********
Same here, our laws states the percentage of light that must come thru. So mine allows 20% of light to come thru.
The International Window Film Association has a current (April 2006) guide of tinting laws in the US. See http://www.iwfa.com/
Neighbor does tints, so I ended up paying $70 for 20%.

where the hell do you live I am driving there and getting mine done!!

I was quoted $275 for 20% all around guy said that because you have so many windows!!
Alot of the windows are very small though. It should be priced by area, not number of windows.

I live in Miami and we always welcome people coming over here :)

Seriously, if you live near the area, message and I can give you the address of the tinting place. They did a great job.
Everyone used to tell me the same thing but you still have to cut the tint and those little windows can tend to be a real PITA especially if they are behind some huge interior panel. You have to do the whole window or it looks like shit but it is jsut a pain to take it all apart. And if you want to do it by area then the price would be about the same. The rolls still only come in 24" sheets so you have a lot of waste and it's not like paper, some tints are directional meaning they have to have a particular side on the top. And then you have the 39" or 52" for the really big rear windows. That stuff is just a beotch to handle. Just be happy they don't charge you like the dealerships do at an hourly rate. Then we'd just take our sweet @$$ time on the simple cars and trucks and those that took a long time would take even longer. I always charged per window and extra if it had defrost or really curved rear glass. It's not as easy as everyone thinks it is. Actually any really curved glass was extra. I did a corvette that took me 4 hours a side because the guy wanted it perfect with no slip cuts so it was shrink and stretch for a long time. I took that guys $250 with a big cup of turd soup.

$198-15%

It's been a while since I've had normal black tint, my last few cars have been metalic or pearl colors, so I opted for semi-reflective tint. Looked sweet. But I like the darker tone for this car... next...badgeless grill...:) and tinted headlight overlays.

Wow..looks great! :D
SinisterR/T: Ohh man does that look good! The first shot would look sweet lowered! ;) Now I like the Marine Blue....grrr... can't figure out what color, but I think it will be the Sunburst Orange.

I likey!:D
Electric Blue. Nothing Else. :D

(I'm holding out. If not, even for the SRT-4, then maybe Marine Blue..)
