- Chrysler Group Reports Sales of 216,412 Vehicles, a 2 Percent Increase for March 2006
- Mercedes-Benz USA Reports Sales of 21,417 Vehicles, an 18 Percent Increase for March 2006
NEW YORK, April 3 -- DaimlerChrysler AG , the third largest U.S. auto maker, today reported total group sales of 237,829 passenger vehicles in the U.S. for March 2006, a 12 percent increase compared to March 2005. All sales figures in this release are on an unadjusted basis unless otherwise noted.
Chrysler Group, which consists of the Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge brands, posted sales of 216,412 vehicles in the U.S., an increase of 2 percent. Following global sales growth of 4.7 percent to 2.83 million units in 2005, Chrysler Group will launch 10 all-new vehicles in 2006, the most aggressive product launch in company history, while introducing some of the most fuel- efficient vehicles to date. Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) posted sales of 21,417 units, up 18 percent compared to the same month last year and posing its best March on record. Boosting sales for the month were the R-Class sports tourer ML-Class SUV. Mercedes will be rounding out its family of light trucks with the introduction of the brand new GL-Class, the first European full-sized luxury SUV in May. On the heels of recording twelve consecutive years of sales growth in 2005, February sales were boosted in part by this month's introduction of the 2007 S-Class, the ninth-generation of Mercedes-Benz's flagship vehicle.
Detailed vehicle sales information for MBUSA and Chrysler Group will be announced later today in separate press releases issued by the groups. March 2005 and March 2006 both had 27 selling days.

Re: US AUTO SALES - March 2006

Thanks for the info! Interesting to see the PT-Cruiser still selling well.
Re: US AUTO SALES - March 2006

I agree GOT... it's selling better as a 5 year old design, than the HHR is as a brand new design...GO MOPAR
Re: US AUTO SALES - March 2006

That HHR is just... well it's not exciting in the least. They could throw in a 396 and it wouldn't be exciting. Ugliness simply does not sell (and I know that lots of people buy Corollas but something else is selling them... and the looks aren't nearly as ugly as the HHR).

While I've never liked the styling of the PT Cruiser it still has beauty.

And speaking of the PT Cruiser... just yesterday I was behind one that said, "limited edition" on the back. It had duel exhaust tips under the bumper and you know what? THE DUELS WERE NOT CENTERED! They were off center by about 3 whole inches!!! Something didn't looks quite right as I neared the car (at a stoplight). Then right behind it I noticed the difference and it became extremely distracting... like when you see a car driving down the road at an angle (from a wreck or bad misalignment). I couldn't believe they would actually let something leave the manufacture like that. I mean if it's not going to be center then it needs to way off center to the right or left.

updated thread number 1
Re: US AUTO SALES - march 2006

sweet write up
Re: US AUTO SALES - March 2006

Hmm, hemidakota's pictures don't show up now :(

I went ahead and updated that cut n' paste DCX sales stuff ... it made it seem like the first chunk was the cumulative 2006 sales, but it was really the second chunk that was total 2006 sales. The first portion is march 2006 only.
