I saw one today on the road. Not too fond of it. To me, it is just another small sedan. It has some pretty nifty features, but then again so do all the other small cars on the market. Hopefully the SRT version will rescue this car from the boring anonynimity (hope I spelled that right) that is the small sedan market. Of course, I am not a Neon fan, but I love the SRT. Not a Lancer or Impreza fan, but I love the Evo and WRX. So I am hoping that a high HP motor and some 19" wheels will breathe some life in to this thing.

So you don't like the look but you like the power? You don't like the Neon but you like the SRT-4? They're the same body style, same basic chassis and undercarrige. The only difference is the motor. You think the Caliber is boring but you hope the SRT version is better? They're the same car, just different motors.

I am an SRT-4 fan, not a Neon fan. I know it is basically the same car, but the regular Neon is, well regular. Would have never bought a Neon, if not for the SRT version. Would haved saved my pennies for something with some balls. Something with more than 175hp. It will be good for the DCX wallet as they can market this car overseas. Just not very a big fan of the "average" car. I like fast, real fast. I like for my cars to stand out a bit. The caliber stands out for now, because it is new. Once the rental car companies pad their fleets with them, it will be just another Corolla. I said nothing of the chassis. I am sure the chassis is fine on the Caliber. I just hope that the SRT version lives up to the hype (300 hp, hopefully AWD), or DCX has lost me to the EVO or STI.

Absolutely love the Caliber. Seems like the best mix of sedan vs. SUV on the market considering all of the features vs. price. So if you don't like the vehicle, why are you registered and posting on a forum dedicated to the vehicle? Just curious ; )

I have an 410 hp srt-4 now, so I am interested to see what the next srt-4 will be. I figure that looking on these forums will give me the best oppurtunity to stay updated on the new srt-4. I am an enthusiast, and the caliber does not seem to be an enthusiasts car. More of a family sedan, grocery getter. With what 175 hp(not sure on that #), that is nothing really. Especially in today's car market. I am in no way bashing the caliber, or anyone who buys them. Just not a car I would buy in anything other than the SRT trim. I know the Neon is not an enthusiasts ride, save for the srt. Even then, it takes a few mods to get it moving.

The Neon has a rather large enthusiast following. Check the DotOrg for that. The modability of the World engine would let anyone mod the hell out of it and get it as fast as they want it to be. The Caliber is already faster than the Neon, even the 2.0L varient is faster and handles better. As of right now, I could possibly make the Caliber as fast as the SRT-4 for half the price, but I don't have the time or money to do it.

There's nothing wrong with going fast, mate, and it's understandable that you're going to wait for the SRT. To each their own. :)

and it's DIFFERENT. It ain't vanilla. It's not gonna blend into the background like Accords and Camrys and Escapes tend to do.

Thank you!!!!!
I absolutely love it and now that I've been to the autoshow and actually sat in it and seen it in person, I'm even more in love with it. (If that's possible):D

When I saw it at the auto show I actually liked it even less than I did before if that was possible...but I respect all cars and enthusiasts. So I look forward to seeing them at the track or at a car show and seeing what people have done with them.

The front end styling, stance, driving position, and interior design all are clearly intended to suggest that the Caliber has some SUV in it. Handling is a bit like that of an SUV as well. The specs aren't too far off those for the Mazda3 and Vibe, but the Caliber feels quite different.
The SE or the SXT? The R/T will have a different suspension setup.
