My 08 without EVIC actually says "OIL CHANGE REQUIRED"
I see...I've never owned a Dodge without EVIC so I wouldn't know. Its an absolute requirement for me, even if I have to order one just to get it.

Usually if the gas cap is loose it will display gascap in the odometer.

I believe in non EVIC Calibers it will periodically display the engine light as a service indicator? Meaning the car thinks its time to change the oil (performance general maintenance)?

Well like i said i tighten my gas cap(was a bit loose) cleared the could went for 30 min drive no CEL returned, now i just came home from 1.5 hour drive and still no CEL returned so far so good..

I think if gas cap is not closed securly there is a vacuum leak and thats why i got the could non the less the code hasnt come back after 2hrs of driving so lets just hope i never see it again

When the gas cap is loose it should display gascap in the odometer instead of how many miles you have on your Caliber and it will continue to stay there until you either reseat the cap or reset code. I've had it happen before on my other caliber twice. Chrysler products used to be notorious for having to have your gas cap replaced. I had a '02 Neon and the bastard had to be replaced 3 or 4 times.

I took my gas cap off and went to see and my car says nothing hmm

I believe its not an instantaneous readout. The car notices a problem while being driven, then throws gascap readout.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I have seen in past cars and codes.

From the Caliber SRT-4 users manual....

Like the previous poster said, you have to drive down the road for it to happen.

Sweet! Glad to hear. I hate that little light. My buddy went as far as to remove the bulb and called it a day... lol, moron.
