I'm thinking of painting my wheels black like a few of you have done. I wanted to know how the paint is holding up on the wheels? any problems with chiping and how long have you had them on the vehicle. Thanks

Most of the paint on my winter ones are holding up.

The only areas that are having issues are around the wheel weights, valve stems, and stud holes. Basically the spots that you can't sand very well. Sand every square inch. If you don't sand well, paint will come off.

If you want a little extra durability, spend a little cash and get them powder coated. My brother powder coated the wheels for his Celica, and they've gone through 3 Cleveland winters now with no problems. A little wax, and they all shiny again. Cost him about $400 up here.

x3 on powdercoat.

paint scratches and chipsvery easy of the stock silver painted wheels. I would rather go that route than see black with silver ships on it later down the road..

na mean?

Yeah i'm feelin all of you on the powder coating. It is more expensive in the short term, but it will save money and hassle in the long run. Wht kinda price have you guys seen to get wheels powdercoated, rough estimate?

i can get them done for 75 a wheel if you already have them prepped. not a bad price, its from the same guyi deal with at work and the quality is always good!

I know you live far away from me but I had mine done for $60 a wheel. All I had to do was get them unmounted & that was it

Andrew:

If you have polished rims, let's swap before you get them powdercoated.
