I'm trying to find the factory installed unconnect control module. I really
didn't even look yet but if someone knew that would help alot. Save me time digging around the back of my dash.
I think it is behind the glove box area maybe?

Im pretty sure it is located behind the glove box.

UN4GTBL stickied a radio details thread in the audio/visual forum. Might have some insight.

Fingernipp has a how-to of how to install the factory uconnect...maybe in there the location might be given.

I'm pretty sure that my thread doesn't state the location of the module. But, IIRC I did put a link to Fingernipp's pdf...

Might I ask what you're plans are?

Yea sure
I'm installing a my gig system this week. I wanted to have a iPod kit so I researched it and found that one jeep site listed a part number for a iPod cable for mygig cars with factory uconnect. I thought the cable plugged into the unconnect module. I can't find install instructions for this cable but I did find them for a different cable. It says to plug the iPod into the uconnect module.

I can't seem to figure out where else I can plug it in? The plugs looks to small for the back of the radio. Also the cable is about a foot long maybe less.

Any ideas?:notallthere:

I dont know much about the MyGig units, unfortunately.

I know my iPod integration plugs into the small, 3-pin connector that is inline with an small connector on the back of the REC, along with the large connector it get power to the iPod kit. Mine states that its for an REC with or without Factory Sirius. Maybe its the same general method in terms of installation?

Did you read this?

I'm in the same position.... not with the Idpod tho.

I have a factory uconnect and inorder to use it now that I put the My GIG in i need to dissconnect the factory uconnect and then the My GIG uconnect will work.

Would that have something to do with my nav not working on the my gig? It isn;t reading any Satalites.... And I'm pretty sure I hooked the loc pic up right. THere was only one wire I plugged into the back of the my gig, the blue looking tip.

ooooh... I'm not sure about the MyGig connectors at all, I'd imagine they are similar, but I don't remember mine, or their locations/use at all...

I've read some posts with the MyGig and not reading Satellite, or reading the wrong location, cant remember... Is the GPS wire hooked up? I think its gray with one wire coming out. Map DVD installed?

Seems I'm fairly useless on this one! haha.

UN4, can you shed any light on the MyGig satellite issue? Im sure you have read all the topic's twice, so you probably know more that I at this point. :jester:

what I found

2. Part # 82210787AB - For use on models equipped with factory UConnect and 4th generation radios (RES, REQ and REN). NOT compatible with RER MyGIG navigation radios.
iPod integration means you can navigate your iPod through your radio controls. With this simple "plug and play" hook up, your iPod stays securely attached, out of view and continually charging. Fully integrated adapter that provides iPod control through your vehicle's audio system controls. Radio functions and displays vary between vehicle model and audio system. MSRP $37.00 (installation not included).

from http://www.wkjeeps.com/iPod.htm

if this won't work what do 09 factory mygig caliber owners doing for ipod?

If the module in the upper right hand corner is the uConnect module, it looks like you are correct.

Keep in mind that the uConnect that comes factory on the '09 models might be different from yours, unless you have an '09! The reason I say this is because the MyGig was not introduced in the Caliber until '09 and iPod integration was not as simple on the earlier models, they may have put the new uConnect in the 09.

Ok. I just pulled out my glove box but I didn't see anything up there. Do you mean behind the glove all the way up top to where the speaker should be?
I do have a 08. So you may be right. 09 uconnect module must be different then my 08. I wonder if I can install a 09 module in my 08 lol
all I want is complete iPod intergration. Not iPod through the aux port
