Ok. I just pulled out my glove box but I didn't see anything up there. Do you mean behind the glove all the way up top to where the speaker should be?

Im not 100% sure. I just recall reading that its near the glove box. It could be up higher. Can you see the cable that comes out of the radio and follow it?

I do have a 08. So you may be right. 09 uconnect module must be different then my 08. I wonder if I can install a 09 module in my 08 lol
all I want is complete iPod intergration. Not iPod through the aux port

There is a guy on the z forum that was selling his uConnect that worked for an '08 caliber, among other models, and he was selling it with the iPod integration, so Im assuming that the uConnect you have would have the plug you need. But then again, its all an assumption untill you see the unit yourself.
Responses in bold above.

definitely feels like it at times

i don't know TBH...
 oh well. One person cant know EVERYTHING! :jester:

Perhaps nd4spd will be taking pictures and do a how-to on this method... :stickpoke:

Thanks for the help spooled! I'm going to have to dig deeper behind the dash. The fridge box is in the way. I'll report back
It looks like on the Chargers, the uConnect module is behind, to the right, of the glove box... We all know how diverse Dodge likes to make their cars, so I'd check there first.

OK I could not find it. I gave up on that and decided to install the mygig system.

new problems begin lol

First my L/F speaker crackels when I turn up the volume past 10. Comes and goes. It does not do this on the stock deck. I checked the wiring on the lockpick all seems ok.
I do have aftermarket infiniti speakers in the front but only the LF makes the noise.

Next is the factory Uconnect doesn't work. I push the button and the says voice on then goes to the help screen. Nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Hmmm.... Try switching the speakers and see if the sound follows or stays on the LF.

For vehicles that came with the factory UConnect mirror, the required adapter harness will be p/n 82211666 (MSRP $108.00).

Heres more info...

I thought the adapter harness was for the navi units with built in uconnect?
Ren does not have built in uconnect. You can't have 2 uconnect modules in the same car so that harness bypasses one of them. Unless I'm wrong and that is a different harness

I found out that the aftermarket speakers I got in the front don't work with the mygig. 1 speaker crackles.

I was told about this from the other forums
http://www.oemautopartsco.com/product_info.php?cPath=82&products_id=222

that will solve my iPod issue and the uconnect issue I think?

I thought the RER has Navigation and REN does not have navigation. I wasnt aware the the REN did not have uConnect? So your MyGig doesnt have the uConnect buttons on it?!?!

Why wouldnt the speakers work, how are they different from the factory speakers? I wonder if it has to the with the wattage being put out (peak or RMS) being to high or to low? Maybe you need an amp...? Try putting the stockers back in and check.

That uConnect/iPod kit looks exactly like the one that I say for sale on the z forums from a while back. That might be exactly what you need to solve everything but the speaker issue.

yeah that sounds about right...they tease you with the uconnect buttons, but if you push them on the REN, it tells you that its not enabled or something...

Thats fucced up! haha

Im surprised the uConnect module he has in now doesnt work with the REN!

Fuccing Dodge.

The new radios all have the uconnect module inside them IIRC, so i doubt an external unit would work...but i could very well be wrong
I meant if his REN does not have the uConnect inside it, I'm surprised that the external unit would not work with it.

Yes, unfortunately you cannot use your current UConnect setup. It is not compatible with the REN MYGIG. The REN UConnect Kit with iPod Integration is also not compatible with the MYGIG ADAPTER and the REN MYGIG. The reason why is because when the dealer goes to flash your vehicle's computer to activate UConnect after installation their StartScan tool will not recognize the MYGIG even being an option. (Due to the fact the MYGIG wasn't a factory option for the 08 Caliber)

I would recommend upgrading to the "Low Speed RER MYGIG" You'll only have to purchase one of our cheap Microphones to activate UConnect with the RER. No dealer programming is required.

very sad news! :(

Bummer. Forgot about the need for low speed MyGig. Check eBay. I found there were some on there when I was looking to get MyGig for very cheap, NIB.

Sucks tho dude, can you return the MyGig you have now by any chance, or is it gonna have to be sold third party? I'm personally not interested in buying one anymore, just wondering.

No returns...Its ok.

I really dont care about the uconnect, just thought it would be nice to use since it is there..
I really care about having a ipod control through the radio and I cant even do that.
I don't have the money right now for the RER navi mygig so i'll just load 20gig or my favorite tunes into the HDD and be happy for now lol

Also turns out the Infiniti speakers I just bought do not work with the Mygig. Works perfect with the Pioneer D3 and stock radio I had in there. Took them out for stockers and works perfect. I'm going to order oem kickers

That sucks bro. Sorry to hear.

Strange the Infinity's didn't work with the MyGig.

Ok i'm not giving up on this...

I still do not understand why I cannot install this kit and completely bypass the factory uconnect(if I ever find the stock uconnect module) and just use the 09 module with ipod plug. I have a 09 mygig. It is already programed to run handsfree. Why won't this work?
Is is because the lockpick won't work together?

This kit goes for $210 + ipod cable $30 or so list price. I would like more info on it before I lay out the cash for it since it is non-returnable.

It would be nice to see what wires this uses from the factory mygig radio C1 plug. Also a pin out from the jumper harness to the uconnect module.
