Has anyone replaced the blackout tape on the doors? The one on the drivers door on my car is peeling at the bottom so I want to replace it. The dealer wants an hour labor to change it. By the time I pay for the tape and the labor, it would be well over $100. That's ridiculous. No more warranty so I want to try and do it myself. Looking for some advice on how to do it. Do I have to take the rubber trim off that's at the base of the window? It looks like the tape tucks in under the trim.

depends how valuable your time is, if they will only change you $100 to remove and reinstall new stickers that not bad at all. it would take you at least an hour probably anyways, plus whatever the stickers cost. And you don't have to worry about the sticky stuff and removing it

personally i'd take it off and leave it off, as its known to be a problem

Just a FYI. For anyone that wants to remove the blackout tape, be warned about the adhesive. This adhesive is a sucker to remove. It practically laughed at GooGone, Mineral Spirits, Tar Remover, PrepSol and BrakeClean. The only thing from my garage arsenal that worked was the Throttle Body Cleaner chemical. It neutralized the adhesive like it was made to be. Once I learned the removal process from the first tape, the rest came off with ease. But still like any painting process, prep is a step not to get lazy at and you'll need a little time and patience. But it was all worth it, would've killed if I couldn't get it blacked out again.

Honestly, once you do it, you'll wonder "why did I wait and didn't do this earlier".

Just so I understand, this tape is used to blackout the area between the front and rear door windows, like the "B" pillar area. Is this correct?

Is the stock color (what ever color your car is) under those stupid pieces of tape? If it is I might just peel them off anyways, they are a stupid idea.
The stock color of the car is there. This tape is very resistant to tearing but not impossible. After all, I did it! Painting it too is about the easiest since it's a only flat sections.

Yes, Dodge did this to designate the sport/performance models. I feel they should've at least used something like a blacked out plastic trim. On the black color cars it's not an issue but for the other colors it is. Having those areas blacked out also compliments tinted windows.

Thanks, I figured it would be the same color underneath. I would just leave it sunburst orange (in my case) where the tape was, I think it will look alright like that.

From reading all the comments here, I take it that the 09 (and maybe 08) do not have the blackout tape on the door pillars. I do see in pictures that they are still black on some models. What's on them to make them black? Another kind of trim or paint? Would whatever it is be an option to put on my 07?

From what I know the same blackout tape is used on all model years of the SXTSport, R/T and SRT. However if the car is black, no tape was used.
Also about the tape, it's the tape itself that is the problem and not the adhesive. My tape was shrinking and you could spot the adhesive layer still intact. My advice is that even if someone was planning to retape or cover the area, you still have to completely remove the existing adhesive. Not prepping the surface properly could lead to more future problems.
