this is a follow up to my "special harness" post. I took my caliber to Best Buy this morning to have a Pioneer headunit installed. The tech looked at my stereo and said that it should be no problem as long as the car doesnt have a factory amp installed. I have a base model caliber with not many extras(i dont even have power windows or locks!), so i doubt that i have an amp...can anyone shed more light on this for me

Yeah unless you have the MusicGate Sound System you don't have an amp. I believe the MusicGate sound system actually has 2 amps. I have a box under the radio in the dash, and a box in front of the spare tire (w/the Sirius receiver across from it). If you pull back the plastic surrounding the subwoofer, there's another box. I dunno what that one does. The one box in front of the spare tire gets quite hot I know that.

Ok....that makes sense...Then the 2 boxes in the rear must be amps then. I know there's a separate amp for the sub.
