On my way home tonight i stopped to buy some gas ($1.175/Litre FTL!) And i had an idea as i was taking off my gas cap...as i have always found the cord to be too long, the gas cap always hits the car when i use the hook for it on the gas door. So i simply wrapped the cord around the arm of the door and used the hook to hold the now shorter cord as usual, but as the cord was wrapped around the arm, it was much shorter and it kept the cap away from the paint, stopping it from banging against the paint!
Before: hits paint:
After: doesn't hit paint
Instructions:
1. Unscrew gas cap, and wrap it around the door hinge/arm:
2. hook gas cap onto the hook to test it:
3. Remove from hook, and screw the cap back on. You can leave the cord around the door hinge/arm and the door will still function normally.
Now when you stop to buy gas you just have to unscrew the cap and place it on the hook and it will not bang against the paint anymore!
