I have more trouble posting pics on this forum than any other I frequent.

The install wasn't too bad. The only hard to reach clamps are on the turbo. The instructions tell you not to tighten anything unless specified, but before you install the filter box, tighten the clamps on the turbo beforehand. ;) It will save you from removing the box again. :p Other than that, it is a direct bolt-in and very well designed.

Thanks for the pic of the box. Any photos of how the filter sits in the box.?

I like the look and design of this intake, very nice setup. Question is : How does it run, sound, and feel ?. Any noticeable differences ?. How does that filter work, do you clean it or is it a disposeable filter ?. thanks for any info.

What are the advantages to this over the stock intake box?

I don't see why switching a plastic to a metal air box would be beneficial...I know the temperature thing has been beaten dead but it doesn't make any sense to me.

The new box is larger which may or may not promote an increase in airflow. But, the surface area of the new filter is increased alot over the stock filter size. It's reuseable too. The biggest improvement over stock would be the larger air tube going to the turbo. It starts out at around 4" and funnels down to the turbo inlet size, which should produce a very nice velocity increase.

The car is very responsive to throttle imput, and it is no louder than stock. Only way to really tell if it helps would be a dyno test...maybe someone will post one soon showing any differences.

Another reason I got it for all the nay-sayers is...I like the looks of it!! :D

I'm surprised you asked this. How many times have we discussed how the elbow pipe between the turbo and the box is the only choke point in the stock set up.

I keep wondering when someone will make a pipe that runs to the stock box in place of the factory soft pipe but no one steps up. I like AEMs design but I'm not spending $300 just to improve my elbow pipe. My K&N is filter is bigger and there's plenty of air space around it.

I'd like to see someone make a replacement pipe for the stock airbox also. Then it could be dynoed with the stock setup and compared with the new pipe to see if the stock setup is that much more restrictive or not.I like the stock appearance of the AEM setup though but I'm just wondering how much better it will be than stock. It is a lot off money to spend if it isn't any better or just barely better than stock.I hope some dyno info comes out for this system soon.

Maybe it's just me but from looking at the pictures alone I think that the stock box would produce a better CIA effect then the AEM box. The stock box looks to have a tighter seal around the top of the box causing it to keep more air inside the box therefor causing more into the filter itself. Also helping to keep ambient air from the engine out better. Now the bigger box does mean for a bigger filter. I think for $300 AEM could of at least come up with a better box design. Maybe something with some rubber seals or something. I am new to all this but that is my 2 cents

Yeah, thats my issue with it as well. You can ussually tell AEM quality but that box design looks kinda home made if you ask me. That one of the reasons I questioned if AEM actually made it.
