:icon_confused: Really?? Someone talking about the financial aspects of dumping money into an NA car for power and speed vs just buying a turbo version of the same car for equal money (long term) makes you feel lower on the food chain? You need to relax bro.. it's not that serious. Stop with the EMO
It's not about making people feel bad about their cars.. but it just doesn't make sense when people mod the hell of a car for speed and "just a little more power for passing" when for the same cost they can buy a turbo version that will do all that completely stock. I understand some people went out and bought NA Calibers for $18K new...and then 2 years later (or less) there are now Caliber SRTS for less than $18K. Why do you think I waited? It's because when the CSRT was new ..it was stickered at $35K around where I live.. (yes $35K after markup) I waited a few years and bought a CSRT for under 18K ..It's just a lesson learned. Don't run out and buy the NA slow model of a car because you're not willing to wait. It's all good wanting more power out of any car you buy, but dropping $1000s or even $600 is a waste of time and money.. especially when you know you're going to want the car you drive to go fast
No, its the people that are douschebags and have to gloat that their car is better that others, because of what they can and cant afford.
Like i said earlier, id love to have an srt4, or a wrx, or something factory turboed, but at the time, i was driving a car that was on its way out, and i needed something to replace it quickly.
I was paying 177 a month for my old car, and jumping up to 285 a month was a big jump for me, going up to 400+ for an srt was out of the question.
A new car was all i could really get, because of financing, and because i still owed money on my old car.
When i bought my caliber, i paid 16.1k out the door. The dealer paid off the remaining loan on my old car, and gave me cost on the caliber.
So going from 16.1k to 22k wasnt an option for me. Couldnt afford it, and at the moment, i still cant. If i could have kept my old car and waited, i would have, but with a failing trans, and almost 100k on the car, it was time to get into something more reliable, rather than keep on fixing the car.
Not being emo  far from, but like i said, its the asshats that always have to prove their car is better that pisses me off. Yep, you have an srt4, awesome, its a great car, but not everyone can afford one.
Waste of money to buy the n/a version? No. Its gotten me back and forth from work and wherever else i need it to go. Would i like it to be faster, sure, yea, but is it financially responsible, no. I COULD go and trade mine in right now for an srt4, and if i really pushed it, could afford the payments, but why live tight with money. Then if something happens i wont be able to afford to fix it.
Right now im more or less worried about paying off my debt, getting back to school to finish up, and starting a career, rather than having a fast car. The fast cars will come later in life. Not to mention how much my car insuranace would go up if i got an srt4.
Right now i pay 116 a month for the caliber, an srt4 neon would cost me near 200 a month, and the caliber is over that. Im not going to pay 600 bucks, give or take, a month, to have a fast car. At this point in time in life its just not worth it to me.
