Has anyone run the cord for the block heater thru the grill or possibly under it? I tightened mine up close to the hood to prevent scratches/damage while at highway speeds (held tight under hood) but it has still scratched the hood badly..and they look terrible with a Black hood. Any recommendations for the surface scratch removal ?? Thanks for many good tips so far as well :)

p.s. I will be securing the heater cord inside the engine compartment unless it can be routed properly... the hood is a mess already...those scratches, tree sap, water marks ..ughhh. The rest of the car looks good, except that the rear plastic bumper is easily scratched (below the hatch especially).

Welcome Wiggy!

IF you have a front plate, you will be able to use it to hide the heater cord, just run the plug down to behind the lower grille on the front bumper, then pull the cord out through the section on the passenger side of the middle vertical part and then just tuck the cord back into the opening on the driver side of the middle verticle part. You cant see the cord and its easy to get at! Just reach right up under and behind the front plate! Mind you if you didnt have a front plate this would probably work too...

Diagram of the cable in stoage mode: (just pull it out of the driver's side to use it)
Blue lines - shows the bumper parts that are hidden
Red Lines/arrows - shows the cord and the direction to run it

Make sure that the cord is free from any moving parts and that it doesnt drag, i ran mine along side the fog light harness

As for your rear bumper there is a generic bumper protector that a few of us have that might help prevent/hide the scratches.

does anyone know what the little square missing from the lower grill on the SRT-4's is for. Is is for the engine block heater cord. It looks like it the plug would fit through there, but I don't know if the cord would be long enough either. I don't have a Caliber or an engine block heater so I am out of luck.

It could be for the heater cord, or even a tow/recovery point, like behind the little square in the back bumper
